Hamilton's winning the championship. There's no way he'll score less than 41 points over the next four races.... unless he does a Vettel, obvs.
Adam
Real shame as, until that ridiculous first corner in Singapore, it was shaping up as a really tight battle between two drivers from different teams, something we haven't seen in quite a few seasons. Admin Lineker Posted October 10, 2017 Author Admin Report Share Posted October 10, 2017 From the article Regarding engine rules: FIA and FOM jointly developed new engine regulations V6 turbo with 2 electric motors (MGU-H and MGU-K) expected many standardised parts to reduce complexity and costs power output of over 1000PS together with reduced aerodynamics are supposed to make cars more difficult to drive second MGU-K at the front axle wouldn't have generated enough electric power to offset weight increase FIA and FOM want to avoid lengthy arguments changes can be requested, but only if reasons are provided reasonable requests will be considered, categorical refusal to accept certain concepts will be ignored Regarding decision making processes: Strategy Group and F1 Commission will cease to exist FIA and FOM want to be able to react quickly without lengthy arguments in commissions and teams trying to push for regulations that suit them to be independent of teams' opinions, Ross Brawn has put together a group of engineers to evaluate technical rule changes with regards to lap times and sensibility to dirty air Regarding budget cap: budget cap is supposed to be ready for 2019 costs are to be reduced gradually so that big teams can adapt slowly every team will be assigned at least one overseer most difficult task will be to convince teams that budget cap enforcement is watertight
Adam
All sounds good to me, hope it means more engine suppliers coming in. F1 needs a revolution and this is a terrific opportunity.
JasonM
I still think Ferrari will try a lot of things on the political side to weaken the deal significantly, because the rules are going to take a lot of power away from the constructors in being able to cut the deck to their preferences. I think Red Bull will also have some issues, as FIA/FOM want to have a crackdown on dirty air and as a result aero. Mercedes, I dunno, they have a good ship and they've played the rules to their own gain without losing out on track. They've been squeezed by Ferrari and Red Bull a bit this year, but they're still firmly numero uno. But ultimately, I think this will be a very good deal for the sport, fans, independent teams, and manufacturers. To build a sport that's focused on creating the best F1 for all, and not just the best F1 for a select few. Sure, big teams will still reign king, and the factory teams will find ways to bend the rules, but this is a very good first step to level the field in terms of politics at the very least. Katsuya
So Gasly definitely isn't racing in Austin, so Kvyat is back and then it looks like Brendon Hartley is going to get his F1 shot finally. If not, then Buemi is back for a race.

Also, It's been too long since a Kiwi has been on the track. Edited October 13, 2017 by Jasonmufc

Katsuya
Good for the guy to finally get his shot, and he's at least driven COTA before so he has a shot. And Kvyat is the ideal yardstick. Wouldn't be shocked if they rotate around the three of them in the remaining races.
JasonM
Very happy that Hartley gets a shot, also the first time in over 30 years that a Kiwi has driven an F1 race since Mike Thackwell for one race in 1984. And Hartley has deserved it with spectacular drives, which makes it all the more amusing that Red Bull actually cut him years back because he wasn't good enough for the Red Bull Academy. Now i'd even love it if they also decide to pull Earl Bamber into F1 for a one-off, just to give both young Porsche guys a F1 career. Admin Lineker Posted October 16, 2017 Author Admin Report Share Posted October 16, 2017 Pirelli's Ultra Soft tyre will be coloured with pink sidewalls for this weekend's United States Grand Prix, as part of Formula 1's link-up with the Susan G. Komen foundation. Austin's round coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness month and there will be a number of activities, both on- and off-track, to mark the partnership between Formula 1 and the charity. Formula 1 intends to turn the weekend pink, and Pirelli has confirmed that the softest of its available compounds will be coloured pink, rather than purple. "For America, we're once again taking a softer range of compounds that we have done for previous races there," said Pirelli's Head of Car Racing Mario Isola. "The Ultra Soft will be available in Austin for the first time: but in pink as a one-off, to highlight the brilliant work of the Susan G. Komen foundation. "This should bring lap times down, continuing the trend we have seen over the course of the season." Pirelli's Super Soft (red) and Soft (yellow) compounds will also be available this weekend.
