He is from Sunderland tbf :shifty:

Whilst the staff are getting paid, we really shouldn't be using this considering our financial status. This isn't the case of a team in a poor financial state or a lower league team or a small business that actually requires to use this. Disappointing really....

I don't see the issue. They're getting paid 100%, they're probably furloughed because they have no work to do.

Looking at the replies on Twitter, it appears that a vast portion of the population seem to think 'furlough = government pays your wages', which is incorrect.

Liverpool are going to be paying 80% of their wages through the government's scheme though.

It's weird isn't it, instinctively the complaint makes sense (ooh, rich footballers still getting paid), but at the same time there are richer companies than football clubs taking the 80%, with no doubt far bigger workforces.

After pressure of several different forms; supporters and supporters groups, media, internally etc. The club have done a u-turn on the furlough

David Moyes is taking a voluntary 30% pay cut at West Ham to help the club through the financial problems caused by the coronavirus crisis. He joins Gareth Southgate, Eddie Howe and Graham Potter. Meanwhile, the chief executive of the Professional Footballers’ Association, Gordon Taylor, has said he will not take a cut to his £2m salary.

An online streaming service has written to the Premier League to defer payments due to the suspension of competition due to the coronavirus outbreak. It is understood that DAZN, which holds rights to stream all English top-flight matches in Brazil, Canada, Japan and Spain, is in negotiations to halt payments until there is clarity on when and how the season can be completed.

Manchester City will conduct a disciplinary investigation following reports Kyle Walker broke quarantine rules by hosting a party with two sex workers while the UK remains in lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A report in the Sun said Walker and a friend paid £2,200 for Louise McNamara and a 24-year-old Brazilian woman to visit his home last Tuesday. It was reported the escorts left on Wednesday, the same day the City and England right-back used social media to urge the public to follow government guidelines on social distancing and protect the NHS by staying indoors.

A City spokesman said: “Manchester City are aware of a story in a tabloid newspaper regarding the private life of Kyle Walker in relation to a breach of the UK lockdown and social distancing rules. Footballers are global role models and our staff and players have been working to support the incredible efforts of the NHS and other key workers in fighting the effects of Covid-19, in any way we can.

“Kyle’s actions in this matter have directly contravened these efforts. We are disappointed to hear the allegations, note Kyle’s swift statement and apology, and will be conducting an internal disciplinary procedure.”

Walker, who has 48 England caps, said: “I want to take this opportunity to issue a public apology for the choices I made last week. I understand that my position as a professional footballer brings the responsibility of being a role model. As such, I want to apologise to my family, friends, football club, supporters and the public for letting them down.’

Walker is not the first player to step out of line during the lockdown. Aston Villa punished Jack Grealish with a fine that was donated to the University Hospitals Charity in Birmingham after he defied the ban on non-essential travel by going to visit a friend. Grealish apologised after being pictured at the scene of a road accident last Sunday.

The papers are reporting that this is the end of Kyle Walker's England career like the combined efforts of TAA, AWB, Trippier and Reece James hasn't already.

I love Alisson Becker but he’s basically only had one full season in the Premier League, having him top ten of all time feels a bit of a stretch. Do people really hate Joe Hart that much these days?

Also, where’s Tim Flowers? :(

2010 to 2016 Joe Hart is definitely deserving of a spot in that top 10. Man City didn't finish lower than 4th during that time, and even that was Hart's final season there. I think his career from Euro 2016 onward muddies his legacy a lot. Not sure James and Given deserve spots tbh. Swap them out for Hart and Fabien Barthez and it looks a lot better.

Alisson undoubtedly will be considered one of the Premier League's greatest keepers but he hasn't been there long enough yet. I'm not sure who to replace him with other than it probably being someone from this list.

I don't think you can base a keepers ability on final league position though, that Man City side was quality from front to back. Given at times single handedly kept Newcastle in European (including Champions League) spots behind some of the worst defenses ever to grace the top half of the Premier League. I know your point isn't quite as straightforward as that, but across the length of his career I'd have Given over Hart. And I'd have David James too.

I think Brad Friedel is at least in the discussion too, so consistent over a very long time.
