The Emirates FA Cup 2023/24

Things that happened today - graffiti on the route from Liverpool to Manchester calling Liverpool fans murderers, poverty chanting from United fans after every goal for the club, shouts of murderers clearly heard on the broadcast, Munich stuff both online and in the stadium, and someone in the away end threw a flare down into the disabled fan area (because clearly, that's a good place for disabled fans, below away fans) that injured a guide dog and forced the area to be briefly evacuated.

Fuck football fans man.

They're officially getting rid of FA Cup replays from the first round onwards next season. It's the end of an era unless you're a non-league club.

They're also changing the date of the FA Cup final to the penultimate Premier League gameweek, with no Prem games on either the Friday or Saturday.

It's such a shit deal and the FA have rolled over for the Prem.

Seeing as nobody in England actually cares about the FA Cup anymore they should take this opportunity to be brave and let other countries bid to host it. Let’s say Dubai wins a bid to host it. Lots of ca$$$$h for the likes of Tranmerr Rovers, the locals get to see some farmers league football at a slightly higher level than what they’d usually see. Everybody wins.

I also should have presumed they hadn't even bothered consulting EFL clubs, let alone non league, because obviously they didn't.

Not even consulting the vast majority of clubs in the competition is ridiculous, definitely.

I also saw that while the 5th Round is back to a weekend slot, the 4th Round is being stretched out until Wednesday from the weekend presumably to suit TV. So in effect nothing changes with that stupidity.

"That concludes the draw for the 3rd Round of the FA Cup. The ties will be played over the weekend of the 15th to the 23rd of January."

Magic of the cup! I'd moved over to the Liverpool game after Maguires goal and decided to check in as it came towards the end and tuned in just before the penalty was given. Amazing spirit from Coventry to turn that around, you got one shot, gave it everything and got the reward.
