Benji
May 31st is supposed to be the deadline for full restoration. Online play is a "few more days," but the PSN Store won't be back till the end of the month. Which is frustrating, because all I want is the store. I've got, or will have, three games that I want DLC for (Prince of Persia and Dragon Age Origins, followed soon by my pre-order content for LA Noire)

King Ellis
Turns out Jimmy didn't want to go to CAWIFORNIA to visit the Pee Wee's Big Adventure dinosaurs and mourn his dead sister, he just wanted to avoid sales tax. Crazy little idiot savant.
Meacon Keaton
I thought California had sales tax... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sales_taxes_in_the_United_States I knew Delaware didn't, because I grew up there. But when I visited California, I remembered paying it. I don't know why there wouldn't be sales tax on PSN.
gunnar hendershow
Something tells me in the midst of setting up the new security they'll find a way to slip in a way to make sure whether you're actually buying a game while in California. And I think the no sales tax applies to online purchases only in California.
Herr Matzat
They could have don that forever ago. They like money, thats why they don´t. When flow was free for a day they tried to keep europeans out by useing a ip control, obviusly you could just proxy around that, but most people don´t know these basic tricks. You aslo can´t enter the US Movie store with a german ip, and they seem to have blocked all or most non US Credit Cards. King Ellis
Two attempts at downloading it and it's failed at 31 and 54%. I assume the servers are being overloaded.

gunnar hendershow
Why couldn't they have done this on a Tuesday or something when the servers wouldn't be bombarded? I'll wait, if everyone else is having failures with the downloading.
Meacon Keaton
I had no problem downloading and installing it. It just wouldn't let me log-in after the installation.
King Ellis
On my third try I seemingly got it. I had it doing it in the background and switched back to it and it was only a Sony splash screen saying it was downloading some information. Then I checked back again and I was on the XMB and it said it had the latest firmware. Haven't seen any prompts to change my password.
The Mask of Norro
Downloaded, installed, changed password and am back up and running again. Store isn't working yet but hey, that's pretty much a given right now.
Quom
I think the sign in is part of the staggered process. Everyone can seemingly download the update, but you then need online to roll out in your area before you can log-in and change your password. zero
Most of the US should be on now. I've been playing Mortal Kombat - with horrendous lag - for the last hour or so. Though I think the lag is just MK, not PSN.
Herr Matzat
Taking bets how soon this will be hacked. I can´t ogin to change my PW it seems, but the update downloaded nice and fast. Baddar
Yeah, I got the update, but it says 'undergoing maintenance' whenever I try to sign in.
Herr Matzat
Just give it a day or two more. I bet even if it gets back online later today it will just be overcrowded and laggy because everybody trys to enter.
SRN
Oh hey, it seems like I can get online. At least it let me finally change my password. EDIT: Yay, online!
