Matt
Young's been great on the wings, Rooney has been great playing 'in the hole'. Doesn't make much sense to put Young in the hole behind Rooney. Nice to see Smalling in the team, he's been brilliant for us at right-back and the first-team experience will do him good as he's almost certainly our future first-choice CB. I haven't watched any City games this season to see how Richards has been though. Yeah to be honest, that's what I was getting at. I'd have had us playing somewhere between a 4-2-3-1 and a 4-4-2, Carroll up front, Rooney just behind, Downing and Young on the wings, Milner and Parker in the middle. Goal for Cahill, decent finish for a centre half.
Starvinho
3-0 at HT, nothing too impressive from England but we're getting the job done. Same again second half please...
Admin Lineker Posted September 3, 2011 Admin Report Share Posted September 3, 2011 Well, that was rather easy wasn't it. The Welsh did us a favour by beating Montenego 2-1, which we shall thank them for by beating them, easily.
IAceI
WE'RE GONNA WIN THE EUROS!!! How can Belgium have players like the Hazard brothers, Kompany, Lukaku, Witsel, Defour etc. and draw 1-1 with Azerbaijan?
DFF
WE'RE GONNA WIN THE EUROS!!! How can Belgium have players like the Hazard brothers, Kompany, Lukaku, Witsel, Defour etc. and draw 1-1 with Azerbaijan? I think it's a combination of 'stars players not playing well together' and the rest of their team being very average. Azerbaijan always have a knack of getting the odd decent result in each qualifying process too.
Jimmy
It's encouraging to see England not have to play that well and still beat a team 3-0. We scored some really nice goals yesterday and it was an encouraging team performance.
ChrisSteeleAteMyHamster
The Belgian team are amazing but still young. They SHOULD grow into a decent team. I'd add the mighty Jelle Vossen.
Dan
The top England wore last night is lovely.
Starvinho
Darren Bent and Micah Richards have been ruled out of England's Euro 2012 qualifier against Wales on Tuesday because of injuries. Bent had not been able to train in the build-up to Friday's win over Bulgaria after picking up a groin problem. Manchester City defender Richards is believed to have a hamstring problem. England manager Fabio Capello has decided against calling up any replacements so close to Tuesday's match at Wembley. Both players have returned to their clubs for treatment on their injuries. Probably be the same starting line-up against Wales as against Bulgaria I think so those too won't be missed too much.
Starvinho
1129 FOOTBALL: - BBC Sport's Leon Mann on Twitter: "Arsenal's Emmanuel Frimpong has signed a written agreement to play international football for Ghana. #AFC" He can fuck off then. Adam
Smart decision, can't see him ending up being good enough for England's midfield.
Jimmy
#eng: Hart; Smalling Cahill Terry Cole; Lampard Barry; Milner Young Downing; Rooney. Milner in for Walcott and Lampard in for Parker.
crazybrain
Parker and Walcott out, Lampard and Milner in. Aparently Walcott's picked up a hamstring injury and Parker taken out as a precaution as if he got booked tonight he would have missed the Montenegro game. Other than that seems like Capello's going with the same team that beat Bulgaria.
Adam
So, other than the changes, he's kept it the same? Terrific. Shame I can't watch this tonight, glad Milner is in for Walcott though. I still do not rate Walcott and can't remember his last good England performance after that Croatia game. Jimmy
But I don't rate Milner on the wing at all, would much rather see Adam Johnson get a start. For anyone interested, this is the bench. #eng subs: Stockdale Jagielka Lescott Parker Carroll A Johnson Defoe. Would like to see Carroll get on at some point, as well as Johnson. Matt
So to avoid Parker missing a game, we're not going to play him in a game. That's some spectacularly fucked up logic there. Hopefully Lampard will play a more advanced role with Milner in the centre alongside Barry with Young and Downing on the wings. Probably not though. Asuka's Gonna Kill You
I'd take anybody over Milner, how he's still getting in the team ahead of numerous players is beyond me, just as crazy as him being preferred to Johnson for City. Matt
The same Milner who until a couple of games ago was about the only player that looked consistently good?
Asuka's Gonna Kill You
The same Milner who until a couple of games ago was about the only player that looked consistently good? No, the same Milner that has been pretty dire for quite some time now but gets praised because he 'runs a lot and works hard'.
