Adam
Doncaster Rovers have received many applications for the vacant position of 1st team Manager; however one application stood out from the rest. At the tender age of just eight years, Doncaster boy Mac Wilson replied to the call of Chairman John Ryan for applications to fill the managerial position left by the departure of Dean Saunders. In his letter to Rovers Chairman John Ryan, Mac outlined his footballing prowess including 2 and half years as a player at Sprotborough and Cusworth Crusaders. Mac also outlined his plans to help Rovers to promotion to the Championship this season and to the Premier League within three seasons playing attacking passing football. Upon receiving his application, John Ryan immediately got in contact with Mac to invite him and his father to the game against Leyton Orient, on Saturday, for an interview and to meet the Rovers players. John said: “One of the nicer sides of being the chairman of a football club is that sometimes you can make someone’s day. “My daughter was with me at the time that I got Mac’s letter and my first thought was to give him a ring. I rang him and got his dad on the phone, who is a Rovers fan too, and asked if I could speak to Mac with regards to the vacancy at Rovers. “He asked me who it was and when I said John Ryan Chairman of Doncaster Rovers; there was a bit of silence, I think he thought someone was winding him up. “Mac came on the phone briefly and I asked him whether he would like to come down for an interview, he was a bit shy so his dad took over. I said to him we would like to interview Mac and invited them both down on Saturday for a look round, meet the players and to give him an interview. “Mac actually put in his letter that he will get us in the Premier League in three years – I thought that was a very positive statement. “I do get quite a lot of letters and I reply to them all. I think it’s the nice side of being Chairman of a football club. “I was a mad Rovers fan when I was eight and would have loved it if the Chairman back then, whoever it was, had contacted me - I would have been in awe. “It’s nice when you do things like that because people do remember.” Mac’s father Aidy spoke of his surprise after receiving the call from John; “I couldn’t speak if I was honest; we were absolutely amazed when we got the call. “Mac thought that it wasn’t John Ryan and that it was my older brother Karl messing around, it took us ten minutes to convince him that it actually was John. “Mac adores Doncaster Rovers, he really enjoys watching them and is adamant that he will get them into the Premier League within three years!!” Mac , who is looking forward to his day with Doncaster Rovers has even promised his father a job! “I was just amazed when we got the call!” he said “I promised to give my dad the kit man’s job, but if he’s lucky he can be Assistant Manager!!” Thought that was a nice story anyway...

Admin Lineker Posted January 15, 2013 Author Admin Report Share Posted January 15, 2013 Blackburn's owners Venky's are set to make a rare visit to Ewood Park on Saturday for Michael Appleton's first game in charge against Charlton Athletic, reports the Lancashire Telegraph. Co owners Anuradha Desai, Balaji and Venkatesh Rao are understood to be making the journey from India later this week. The Blackpool Gazette reports that Peter Houston will not be the next manager at Bloomfield Road. Dundee United granted Houston permission to talk to the Seasiders on Monday, but the report says: "The Gazette understands Houston is not on Pool's wish-list and the Seasiders won't be talking to the 54-year-old Scot." Blackpool, who entertain Fulham in an FA Cup third round replay on Tuesday, are seeking a replacement after Michael Appleton left to take over at Blackburn. Crybaby Bunting
Portsmouth have released six players for cost cutting reasons: The captain Brian Howard, defenders Mustapha Dumbuya, Jon Harley and Lubomir Michalik, midfielder Lee Williamson and striker Luke Rodgers. Now, given that Lubomir Michalik couldn't work out a new contract with Carlisle, you'd assume that he was on more than that at Portsmouth. How is that even possible for a club in administration to do?
Adam
Because Portsmouth do whatever the fuck they want regardless of £60 million debts, of course.
Admin Lineker Posted January 16, 2013 Author Admin Report Share Posted January 16, 2013 West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has accepted substantial damages from Steve Kean over claims he was sacked by Blackburn because he was a "crook". Allardyce's solicitor said Kean accepted the allegation was completely untrue, withdrew it, and agreed to pay an undisclosed sum. Kean, who replaced Allardyce at Ewood Park in December 2010, made the remarks on a tour of Hong Kong in 2011. Blackburn have already made an apology to Allardyce. Allardyce's solicitor, Hanna Basha, told the High Court that the "false and defamatory" allegation was made while Kean was drinking in a bar. Kean's comments were recorded on video, posted on YouTube and reported in national newspapers. Kean's counsel, John Mehrzad, offered his apologies for the hurt and distress caused and said he was pleased to set the record straight. Blackburn had settled their dispute with Allardyce on 8 January and were not a party to Wednesday's statement in court. The Championship club said in a statement on their website at the time: "Mr Kean was in a bar and falsely alleged that Sam Allardyce was sacked because he was a crook. "This is completely false and we apologise to Mr Allardyce for the embarrassment and distress caused."
