The Simpsons

Apparently the reddit app is easy to read, I don't know as I don't have it.

Edit: Wait, Last Exit To Springfield is considered the best episode, really? I mean its a very good one, but I've never heard anyone say it's their favourite.

It's a strange one. I'm a diehard Simpsons fan who has probably seen that episode two-dozen times, yet I only remember the Dental Plan and stupid monkey parts. And when I try to play the episode through in my mind, it becomes Homer Goes To College. :shifty:

I remember the episode for the monkey thing, dental plan, "they have the plant but we have the power" song and "I'm starting to think Homer Simpsons isn't the great tactician I thought he was". Which are all really memorable parts but the plot itself I can't really remember... Burns scrapped the dental plan for some reason, then cut off the power when the workers went on strike to get it back, somehow Homer is in charge of the strikers?

Burns arbitrarily cut the dental plan just because he felt like it. The plant workers didn't care because they were idiots and Burns gave them a free keg ofd beer for the meeting. Just as they were ratify the contract, Homer had his "Lisa Needs Braces" moment and because he spoke up, they made him union President.

Why I love that episode is because of this line. I still quote it all the time, even 20 years later.

In going back looking for that clip from that episode, I didn't realize how many classic Simpson lines it has. It's always been tough for me to pick a best episode ever, but it's in the conversation. Anything from that period from Season 2 to 6 is in the mix.

Wouldn't say my favourite, that sticks with either Homers Enemy or YOMT I think but it is certainly a top few. Dental Plan, Homers negotiations ("Uh oh is he coming on to me?") The Grinch moment, monkeys and Burns' realisation that Homer probably isn't that smart all stand out to me. As I said there are better but it's up there.

Just picked up the Simpsons World Ultimate Episode Guide for Seasons 1-20 from Barnes & Noble's website. Currently on sale for $15: http://www.barnesand...4045052&r=1

Is that anything like that episode guide that I got a number of years ago, which included any movie references in any given episode but totally missed the references to the Fugitive movie in "Who shot Mr Burns?"

No better time to dig this one up.

Let those of you lucky enough to have FXX celebrate that amazing marathon, while I stream episodes in a sad attempt to experience your joy.

Meh, I have 16 seasons on DVD that I can start and stop as I please, I don't need to watch a marathon where they go to commercial every 5 minutes.

Wouldn't there be a live stream of FXX somewhere? I mean, sure, it might be shitty quality but there's at least something there.

I'm not sure the official FXX stream is up yet. Other streams would get shut down pretty quick. But there's a site that has ever Simpsons episode, so I could just jump in wherever the marathon is.

On one hand, FXX is broadcasting the full episodes and not the ones that are cut down for more commercials - so that's a bonus because there's a lot of good jokes that got cut out for length (such as the hitchhiker during the road trip episode) but on the other hand FXX is cropping, zooming and doing noise reduction on these episodes and they look like ass.

Seeing the non-syndication cuts is great. But I've heard that the Simpsons only switched to the letterbox format recently so about 20 years worth of episodes won't look great.

Also, we're getting now near the double-digit seasons where the quality drops off. I'm actually curious to see if these episodes can hold my interest.
