We competed far better than in the league when we went a lot more "toe to toe" with them. De Gea made two great saves but despite the depleted line up, we were competing well with 11 men. Losing Herrera and subsequently Mkhi cost us last night. Nothing to be ashamed of really.

Word is that Ake will start in place of the absent Cahill today. Courtois and Alonso will be back. Costa may be dropped on account of having been meh for the past 4 or 5 games (although quite who his replacement would be I don't know. Starting Batshuayi would be...a gamble).

At least, provided no one else drops out at the last minute, a 'back six' (if you can call it that) of Courtois; Alonso, Ake, Luiz, Azpi, Moses looks infinitely more comfortable than the Begovic; Azpi, Cahill, Luiz, Zouma, Moses debacle that was tried last week.

Just learned that one of the Wembley tube stations won't be available today because the lineside fire that knocked out the mainline trains from Euston midweek scuppered that line too (and apparently no one has been fussed to fix it yet). EVERYONE ONTO THE METROPOLITAN LINE THEN. Yaaaay.
