Crazy numbers. The number of people who have him pegged as a Michael Chopra-esque Championship specialist is daft, stick him in a Premier League team with some service and he'd score for fun. Would have him back at Newcastle in a heartbeat, bloody Rafa.

People look at numbers without context when it comes to Mitro. He scored a decent amount the first time in the Premiership with a Fulham team who barely put up much resistance. The next season in the Premiership, he was injured for significant chunks or not actually being played by Scott Parker. The lad scores a ridiculous number of goals at international level; I'm pretty sure he isn't exactly overawed by teams like your Burnleys and Southamptons.

Mitrovic has 33 league goals this season. It's still only February.

The other ridiculous thing is the number the team has scored. His isn't even half of our total goals - they've been coming from everyone. I'm not sure if it still rings true, but our GD was higher than every other teams goals scored not too long ago.

What people forget is that he scored 9 in the Prem for Newcastle in his first season, he'd shown already he could do it. Rafa just didn't like him though, and whether it was a perceived discipline issue (he got a few reds that first season) or not he completely froze him out. I remember going to Barnsley away and watching him warm up several times as a sub without getting on, and at the point Joselu came in it was game over. :(

Mark Hughes, who apparently wasn't retired the entire time, is back in management at Bradford City after being out of work since 2018.

Waiting for John Gregory and Alan's Pardew and Curbishley to crawl out of the woodwork next.

He didn't seem to feature much under Parker when Fulham were in the PL either. I'd heard he'd had an injury but every time I watched Fulham he was in the stands.

He came into the season injured, so was unfit for some parts. He also had a pretty heavy international workload as well as a spot of COVID. However, Parker didn't like him, so when he was ready and should have been playing, he was left on the bench. Hard to say exactly how much he missed due to each reason, but did mean that his numbers are in no way reflective of his actual ability.

The English Football League has asked Derby’s administrators for an “urgent update” on how the club will be funded for the rest of the season.

On 27 January the EFL and the Championship club’s administrators, Quantuma, agreed a four-week extension to the deadline to provide proof of funding. The EFL has now stated it has still not received this evidence, nor any information from the administrators concerning a preferred bidder.

“On January 27 the EFL and Derby County’s administrators, Quantuma, announced a four-week extension to the deadline for the provision of evidence of sufficient funding to complete the current season,” the league said in a statement.

“The administrators have not yet provided that evidence, and we await an urgent further update from them on both that and the announcement of a preferred bidder.”

Fears that Derby, a founder member of the Football League, could be liquidated receded when it was announced this month that Middlesbrough had reached an accord with former Rams owner Mel Morris over their legal claim against the club. The Boro claim, plus a further one from Wycombe, had been cited as obstacles to a takeover. There has been no update from Wycombe or the administrators concerning that claim.

The US-based Binnie family made a formal bid for the club in January, while a consortium put together by General Sports Worldwide is also interested in buying the Rams.

Derby were placed in administration last September by Morris. The club have been deducted 21 points for entering administration and for admitted breaches of EFL financial regulations.

The team are fighting for survival under the manager, Wayne Rooney, and are eight points from safety.

We've signed Croatian international CB Filip Uremović until the end of the season.

He's one of the players affected by FIFA suspending the contracts of all Russian and Ukranian teams and letting the players find work elsewhere - he was at Rubin Kazan up to this point.

He sounded pretty decent, and we're desperate for the cover tbh.

Derby’s joint administrators have named Chris Kirchner as the preferred bidder for the struggling Championship club.

The administrators confirmed they have entered a period of exclusivity with Kirchner, an American software entrepreneur, in the belief that a deal will secure the club’s long-term future.

In a statement they said: “Following a rigorous and well-documented marketing process, the joint administrators of Derby have accepted an offer from Chris Kirchner to acquire Derby out of administration.

“This follows receipt of his recent bid for the club. The bid is for the purchase of the football club only with the terms of the club’s ongoing occupation of Pride Park stadium to be negotiated with external stakeholders.

“Discussions have taken place with key stakeholders, and Mr Kirchner has been named as the preferred bidder for the club, with immediate effect.

“The joint administrators have entered into a period of exclusivity with Mr Kirchner and his advisers, during which further operational, commercial and contractual discussions will take place.”

The Rams were placed in administration last September and issued with a regulation 12-point penalty as a result, as well as being hit with an additional nine-point penalty for breaches of accounting rules.

Kirchner ended his initial interest in the club in December but recently returned to negotiations following a failed bid to take over Championship rivals Preston.

Joint administrator Carl Jackson said: “We are delighted to be able to name Mr Kirchner as preferred bidder, which the joint administrators consider represents the best deal for creditors and one which will secure the long-term future of the club.

“The naming of our preferred bidder represents a significant milestone in the administration, and we look forward to working with Mr Kirchner and his team to complete the sale of the club.”

Despite their points deductions, Wayne Rooney’s men have waged a strong battle against relegation. However, Reading’s win over Stoke on Tuesday night left the Rams eight points adrift of safety.
