This Ian guy calling the game on ESPN needs to put that "it's bad, but it's not over" shit to rest. The USA has fluked a single goal into the net in 135 minutes. They're not scoring (at least) 3 in the 45 next and a tie probably won't be enough. I realize that he's probably staying the company line since now ABC/ESPN has another 23 days of coverage and the Americans are already done, but it's disingenuous to act like there's anything to suggest the Americans are going to end up with a point from this game. This isn't like the Olympics where if one American fails they can always showcase another, the team choked like dogs under pressure again and you can't keep trying to feed casual American fans that THIS is the time that USA soccer finally steps up on the international level.

This isn't like NBC waving the pom poms during the Olympics. They've been using the "there's plenty of time left" line in all the games.

Yeah, let's see how well you do when a ball is booted point blank range at your face!

There was nothing he could have done, except go forward to challenge him, which probably would have resulted in the same finish.

Umm... goalkeepers are allowed to use their hands, y'know.

In fact, it was probably harder to stop himself making the natural instinctive reaction to put his hands up to protect his face than it was to just do it and potentially save the shot. What you DON'T do as a goalkeeper in that position is run the hell away from the ball. >.<

Hah, skidding as far as possible into the penalty area to try and make it look like a penalty is probably the fastest Alidore's moved all match.

Holy fuck, the keeper just made up for his earlier error. ¬_¬

Edit: Eh, could've been a red card in the last match. Would've been had Altidore been in the area or in possession (or if the pass had already been made). But that was an iffy red, definitely a yellow though.
