General Movie Thread

We didn’t make it in to that screening.  We arrived 90 minutes early, but we were still probably 40 or 50 people behind the cutoff.

I’ve since seen some friends’ opinion on it (and I highly regard their opinion), and they had very mixed feelings in it, at best. I still want to see it though. Even if it’s somehow terrible (probably not), Peele possesses a lot of talent and will come back with something great. I’m really looking forward to that HBO Lovecraft series.

It's good. Get Out is an impossible act to follow, honestly, so expectations are high. It's a really well-made horror movie and my biggest criticism of it is basically that I honestly wish it had made less of an effort to explain the doppelgangers, because I don't think the explanation is very good.

Those were what got me hyped originally, but the trailer actually looks legit without any of that.

...what? This is a thing? That's so odd. I've been watching old College Humor stuff on YouTube and because of that I get recommendations every once in a while, and this came up from 2012 just tonight.

The Rocketeer has always been one of my favorite movies.  It came out when I was 10 and I've loved it ever since.  They bring up some really great points, like how almost everything later in the movie is set up by something else earlier in it

This just looks... unfathomably fucking shite  Jim Carrey seems to be putting in a performance worthy of a low rent Jim Carrey impersonator doing Ace Ventura. Don't think they'd be even half this successful at making a trailer this bad if they tried to do it on purpose.
