The Barclays Premier League Thread 2013/14

I'm going to post this excerpt from a news article it because it will make Nerf happy:

In the end it was appropriate that Luis Suárez should administer the last rites to André Villas-Boas at Tottenham. Here was a player Liverpool had fought tooth and nail to retain last summer, dismissing firm offers from Arsenal and overtures from Real Madrid, to convince the striker, against his better judgment, that his immediate future lay on Merseyside.

Spurs had faced a similar dilemma over Gareth Bale, whose instinct was to up sticks for Spain. They eventually relented and cashed in to the tune of £86m. At the time the reinvestment of those funds in seven signings seemed exciting, even shrewd, though the sight of Suárez ripping the new brigade to shreds on Sunday told a very different story.

Standards continue to slip at BBC Sport...

Hoddle and Tottenham

* Hoddle played over 350 times for Tottenham, winning the Uefa Cup in 1984 and two FA Cups

* Became manager in April 2001 and guided the side to a League Cup final against Chelsea one year later

* Spurs finished ninth and 10th in two successive seasons under Hoddle before he was sacked in September 2003

Congratulations, Blackburn fans: your 2002 League Cup victory has been officially stricken from the record.

I still think it's too early to tell. Four of the players (Chadli, Eriksen, Capoue, Chirches) have all been injured at various times in the season, and Soldado, Lamela and Paulinho are still settling. There's plenty of time for it all to come good. Bale took his time. We weren't big enough as a club to buy instant replacements, so I've still got faith.

This is on wiki;

Tottenham Hotspur F.C[edit]

On 17 of December 2013 Tottenham F.C agreed terms with Marcelo Bielsa for an undisclosed fee. It was confirmed that Bielsa would take over from Andre Villas Boas at the White Hart Lane. Bielsa was unveiled as the new manager of Tottenham after signing a four-year deal at the club.

Capoue has been great when he's played in midfield, Paulinho has really been improving except his final shot, Chadli has been beating defenders down the left and getting crosses in, Chiriches is wonderful, Soldado has like 9 goals or something so he's not quite Helder Postiga, Eriksen has shown glimpses of quality, as has Lamela.

It makes good headlines to say that they're all failing but really they're not.
