Japan are in the weird position of knowing they could beat Costa Rica today but still go out depending on how the rest of the results go in the group by the end of the 3rd game. Bit harsh when 4pts will be plenty for others.

This is because FIFA use GD as opposed to H2H as a first tiebreaker.

Yeah that was the point really - Germany are expected to put more past a team like Costa Rica than Japan are, and it could ultimately come down to that.

Although as of now Japan can't even create a chance against Costa Rica, never mind score a goal.

I definitely didn't expect to wake up to that! Costa Rica were so bad vs Spain, I expected them to lose no questions asked today. Not another stuffing, mind you, but couldn't see them even getting a point.

Huge break for Germany now to have Japan lose, because not even if Germany lose to Spain, they could still end up qualifying if Japan lose to Spain, and Germany stuff Costa Rica.

It also means Costa Rica could somehow even qualify!

What's happened to Bounou at the start of this game for Morocco? Something was mentioned pre match about him disappearing, yet they're still saying he's in goal but it's the #12 Munir instead. Even Fotmob has a rating for both of them at the moment as if there was a very late change with nobody noticing.
