Newcastle weren't too bad tonight at all, Sissoko aside. Should give them some confidence for the derby anyway.

Leicester though...man. They just run and run and run. They are relentless, and Kante is the master at this. He was absolutely everywhere. Another well earned win, and up next it's a woefully out of form Crystal Palace.

I take it Drinkwater is normally better than that though? Every time he got the ball he looked scared and gave it away a lot, or fell over.

And yet still got man of the match.

Glad non-Newcastle fans can see how useless Sissoko is though, hopefully Benitez will pick up on it too since McClaren didn't in 6 months. Kills every attack with a stupid outside of the boot flick to no one, takes zero responsibility for attacking making Janmaat our winger, and making zero effort defending resulting in yet another goal tonight. Looks like he was told to get in the box today, wish he hadn't been...

Very promising tonight and would've likely picked up at least a point if Leicester didn't already have their name written on the trophy. Anything tonight was a bonus given the opponent and short week with Rafa.

This game wasn't going to decide it. Huge games against Sunderland, Swansea, Palace, Norwich and Villa will tell all.

Southampton have been successful in their appeal against the red card shown to Sadio Mané during the 2-1 Premier League victory at Stoke on Saturday, the Football Association has announced. Referee Lee Mason gave the forward a straight red card during the first minute of second-half stoppage time when he caught Stoke’s Erik Pieters in mid-air having mistimed a jump to challenge for the ball. Ronald Koeman, the Southampton manager, indicated the club’s intention to appeal following the match, given the feeling the decision appeared harsh, particularly as Mané kept his eyes on the ball. The case was heard by an independent regulatory commission, which found in Southampton’s favour, meaning now Mane will not face the mandatory three-match ban.

Aston Villa have parted company with their sporting director Hendrik Almstadt as their shake-up continues. The German has left the Premier League strugglers by mutual consent less than a year after joining. Almstadt and the director of scouting and recruitment, Paddy Riley, have come under fire from fans for their roles in Villa’s transfer business last summer, with the club bottom of the league. The chairman, Steve Hollis, who was appointed in January, has been conducting an internal review at the club with Villa set to be relegated from the top flight for the first time since 1987.

Leicester City have signed the nephew of the Sultan of Brunei, one of the world’s richest men. Faiq Jefri Bolkiah, a 17-year-old winger who has been at Chelsea since 2014 after earlier spells with Arsenal and Reading, has signed a three-year contract with the Premier League leaders and will complete his move in the summer. Bolkiah has been a regular for Chelsea’s under-18 side this season but will move to the King Power Stadium in search of first-team opportunities. His uncle, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, was estimated to have a peak net worth of $20bn in 2008.
