Los Angeles Rams safety T.J. McDonald was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after allegedly hitting a parked car Tuesday morning, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to NFL Media.

McDonald was arrested at 8:30 a.m. PT in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Woodland Hills shortly after his collision with the car, according to LAPD Public Information Officer Mike Lopez. There were no reported injuries and police determined he was under the influence of a substance that "was not alcohol," Lopez said.

The owner of the vehicle McDonald allegedly hit reported the incident to police, Lopez stated.

McDonald was booked at 3:20 p.m. PT and released at 6:20 p.m. after posting $300 bond, according to Lopez.

"We are aware of the incident involving T.J. McDonald this morning," the Rams said in a statement. "We are gathering information and will have no further comment at this time."

McDonald is scheduled to appear in court on June 3.

McDonald, 25, has started in all 37 games he's appeared in for the Rams since being drafted out of USC in 2013. Last year, he appeared in 11 games for the Rams before missing the latter part of the season with a shoulder injury that landed him on injured reserve and required surgery.

Man it's gotten to the point with all these stories that I'm wondering if NFL has a problem with criminality, or whether the sheer abundance of players (every team has what,40- 50+ players?) means that there's always going to be more 'NFL player arrested' stories than any other sport.

I think football as a whole has just been propped up on such a pedestal in this country that there are always going to be players doing stupid shit because they were allowed to basically run the campus in college and they're used to the rules not applying to them.  Especially at the big schools that revolve around football.

Then a couple of years ago you have Cris Carter telling rookies at a symposium that they should get a "fall guy" for when they get in trouble.  Tells you all you need to know really.  Yes the size of the league does ensure there will be more arrests than other sports but the league itself does still have a big problem.

It's social media and the way everyone knows everything about everyone nowadays too. And the fact that TJ McDonald was use to driving the streets of St. Louis, Missouri and now he's trying to navigate the insane streets of LA. This franchise location has further reaching issues than anyone originally imagined!

The Denver Broncos announced Monday that Mark Sanchez underwent surgery over the weekend to repair a torn ligament in the thumb on his non-throwing hand. The injury is likely to keep Sanchez out the start of organized team activities, but he should return in early June.

The Buffalo Bills announced Monday that Shaq Lawson, the 19th overall pick in last month's draft, will undergo surgery on his right shoulder on Tuesday. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Lawson will likely begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list. It's possible he will remain with that designation to start the regular season, a move that could cost him nearly half his rookie year. Sammy Watkins has suffered a small broken bone in his foot, according to Rapoport, per a source informed of the situation. Watkins is expected to be ready for the Bills' training camp.

The Boston Herald's Jeff Howe reported Monday that New England Patriots WR Danny Amendola is recovering from knee and ankle surgeries he underwent earlier this offseason. Per Howe, the knee rehab could impact the start of his 2016 season. He is questionable for Week 1.
