It's tough to imagine he'd learn the entire playbook in two weeks.  Would've still been a steady diet of CMC/Deebo rushing and a lot of short-yardage throws.  Still, they would've been able to install a few plays attacking the 2nd and 3rd levels and at least be able to present a threat that they could move the ball downfield.

The game would've been more about the Niners defense having to hold off the all-world Chiefs offense.  But it still would've been a really fun story.

It's rather shitty that a team could even do that. I wish that there was a rule that once the postseason hits, you can't sign anyone unless its to replace an injured player. And it has to be an injured starter.

That was literally the reason they'd have brought in Rivers. He was the contingency plan.

And even then who cares if they bring someone in? As mentioned,  it's not like they can learn the playbook, get accustomed to the new teammates, etc. in any significant way so it would still be an uphill climb.

Far less impactful of a position than QB but I remember the Eagles having to sign Jeff Thomason, a former TE who had retired and was working in construction, to a one-game contract for their Super Bowl against the Patriots.

He was mostly just there to be a blocking TE for a few plays but still, what a wild experience that had to be.

Damar Hamlin returned to the field this weekend.

Depending on how much money you’re willing to temporarily loan the sportsbooks until January, he’s effectively a betting lock for Comeback Player of the Year already (currently -350 while the next closest is +2000).

Short of scandal it’s already locked up, doesn’t really matter what he or anyone else do on the field.

Safe to say Martin over Manziel has aged like fine wine.

After watching that Untold doc on Manziel, even more so!

Made me feel awful about his situation though.

I remember many 2014 mock drafts from Giants beat writers where Zack Martin or Aaron Donald were the pick.  By the time the draft rolled around, the writers I trusted the most were pretty zeroed in on OBJ but for a while the pick felt pretty wide open.

Although I certainly can't complain about the level of production OBJ put up in his time here, and his trade ultimately might've paid dividends (became Dexter Lawrence), that's obviously a pick you do-over if you had the chance.  Either Martin or Donald would've been HOF-level building blocks to get the team back to relevance a lot sooner than they actually did.
