I like that after all the back and forth and the rumors that Packers wanted a first round pick, all they got was a pick swap two move up to spots and a second round pick.

I bet the Packers will finally spend that pick on an offensive skill position too.

What does a trade where neither side has leverage look like? That one.

They'll presumably have a 1st Rd pick next year unless Rodgers gets hurt. But, yeah, that and a 2nd this year is basically "their haul".

WR in the first, TE in the second?

It'll get some taking used to seeing Rodgers rocking the #8 jersey after all these years.

I think the Packers made out really well in this honestly.  Barring injury they got a 1st and a 2nd for a QB who turns 40 this year, all while they had no other trade partners and Rodgers flat out told them he’d retire if he didn’t get traded to New York.  Even if this trade wasn’t entirely to their liking, as much as I want to say “fuck Rodgers”, it would be tough to sell to the fanbase and future prospective free agents that you forced a future Hall of Famer out of the league when the relationship was clearly over.

The Jets meanwhile had really no choice but to get this deal done.  They could’ve waited longer and pushed the draft comp into 2024/25 if they wanted to but that would’ve simply complicated things.  Zero chance they could’ve sold trotting Zach Wilson back out there to their fanbase after all of this.

So, what happens to Zach Wilson now? Sits behind Rodgers for a year or two? Released or traded?

I believe they have to keep him this year because of the dead cap hit. So he'll back up Rodgers. Not sure if they will feel a need to do that in year 4, especially if he just sucks still.

Although Bryce Young is still listed as the betting favorite for the #1 pick...Will Levis' odds at being the #1 pick plummeted from +4000 to +400 on some sportsbooks based on an anonymous tip on Reddit that Levis was supposedly telling friends and family that the Panthers have told him he'll be the pick.

Not hard to see why some states just don't allow draft betting.

I'm not gonna label Levis a bust like I did Zach Wilson pre-draft, but I don't think he's going to wind up being the best QB out of the 4.  Feels like he's got a Ryan Tannehill/prime Andy Dalton ceiling.  Could get to the playoffs, maybe win a game with the right team around him, but probably won't take you to a Super Bowl, much less win one.

I'm all for the chaos this would create in the draft though.  Assuming the Texans would happily take Bryce Young, that means the Colts have no choice but to try to switch spots with Arizona to guarantee they don't get stuck with whoever is left over.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans have the final financing piece for the NFL's next pricey stadium with the largest public investment yet that they hope to open for the 2027 season.

The Metro Nashville City Council approved by a 26-12 vote early Wednesday morning on the final reading to allow its sports authority to issue $760 million in bonds. That combines with $500 million in state bonds for more than $1.2 billion in public financing committed to the Titans' enclosed stadium.

That gives Tennessee the largest public price tag for a stadium, topping the $850 million commitment from New York for the Buffalo Bills' new $1.5 billion stadium.

The stadium's total cost is estimated at $2.1 billion. The Titans, with help from the NFL and personal seat licenses, will provide the remaining $840 million. The new stadium will feature a translucent roof with a capacity of approximately 60,000.

Controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk thanked everyone involved.

"For more than 25 years, Nashville, Tennessee, has been the Titans' home, and with the approval of the new stadium agreement, we are grateful to know the Titans will be a part of this great city and state for decades to come," Strunk said in a statement.

The council meeting began Tuesday night with two hours apiece for taxpayers to argue for and against the proposal to use Nashville's bonding authority to pay for a second stadium for the privately owned NFL team. The council took about six hours before a final vote.

This stadium will allow Nashville and the Titans to bid for a Super Bowl, Final Fours, College Football Playoff games and more. Burke Nihill, the Titans' president and CEO, said they are excited at the chance to host some of the world's best events.

"This is a generational opportunity to address our city's priorities and ensure its health and vitality for the next 30 years," Nihill said. "Our city and our state have bright futures ahead, and we're humbled by the opportunity to continue to be a part of it."

The deal shifts an estimated $1.8 billion in costs for future maintenance and stadium investments up to 2039 from Nashville taxpayers to the NFL franchise, which also will be on the hook for costs that go over budget and maintenance instead of local taxpayers.

In the deal, the Titans agreed to waive $32 million owed by Nashville for money spent maintaining Nissan Stadium the past four years. The Titans also will pay off the remaining $30 million in bonds owed for the current stadium.

A new 1% hotel/motel tax, all of in-stadium sales tax and 50% of sales taxes from 130 acres around the stadium will pay off the bonds. The Titans and city officials announced an agreement in December that includes a new 30-year lease. The team agreed not to leave Nashville during that lease.

Nashville hired an independent consulting firm that confirmed the Titans' estimate of what the city would pay to maintain the stadium under the lease signed in 1996. Venue Solutions Group agreed that renovating the current stadium would cost between $1.75 billion and $1.95 billion over the remaining years on the lease.

The Titans have been clearing money for their portion of the stadium, with team officials hoping to break ground by mid-2024 to open for the 2027 season. Strunk already paid for the expansion of the team's headquarters that essentially doubled the size of the building that opened in August 1999.

Nissan Stadium originally opened in 1999 as Adelphia Coliseum. That deal cost $292 million, convincing franchise founder Bud Adams, who died in 2013, to move his Oilers from Houston to Tennessee in 1997.

The new stadium will be built on the parking lots between the current stadium and Interstate 24. The deal returns control of 66 acres, including the current site of Nissan Stadium, to Nashville. City officials are planning a renovation featuring a park, greenways, affordable housing and a new road.

Nashville hosted the 2019 NFL draft, drawing approximately 600,000 people over three days.

Yay, Lions Super Bowl day!

Anyway, this seems like a weird draft man. Sitting at 6 seems like Iike the Lions could just be outside of one of the elite dlineman unless Carter falls. I don't think he will though.

Dream is that Will Anderson falls but I don't see him getting past Seattle, Arizona, and even Houston. I could see Houston going that route potentially unless Bryce Young was there at 2.

I'm actually very intrigued by CJ Stroud. I get that he scored low on the S2 (whatever that is) and that Ohio State QBs typically kind of suck in the NFL but I like his skillset. He's got good size, seems to be a good athlete, highly productive in college, won a lot of games, and well their Lions should be adding a young arm. Plus, Stroud isn't under any pressure to start here, he could literally learn under Goff for two years.

That said, I feel like he's going before 6 and a lot of this stuff coming out this week is probably nonsense.

I guess my thing is, if the stud dlineman are gone at 6 I'd rather take a swing at a QB then settle for a CB or Olineman.

At 18 there's a lot of players I'd like here. Bijan Robinson, Calijah Kancey, the OT from Tennessee, the CB from Maryland,Joey Porter Jr are probably top of my wishlist. Oh or Trenton Simpson but his projection seems to have him going possibly round 2.

Simpson seems like a Holmes/Campbell guy. High character, very athletic, good motor.
