Players can develop pretty fast though. As you've probably heard, Bale was nearly sold to Birmingham for 3 mil before he developed into the player he is today. I'm very optimistic over Townsend's future, he looked cracking tonight - and has done through pre season. Just needs to learn to pass more.

Fenerbahce are expelled from the Europa League and barred from qualifying for next season's Champions League in a match-fixing case. The Turkish club were due to enter the Europa League after being eliminated by Arsenal in the Champions League play-offs on Tuesday.

Uefa expelled Fenerbahce in June after judging that club officials helped fix matches to win the 2011 Turkish league title. The Court of Arbitration for Sport says it has dismissed the Turkish club's appeal against a two-year competition ban imposed by Uefa.
