Not sure if you (or @Maxx) were around at the time @metalman did this work but I feel like he covered it nicely!

Can a plebe tell me what they see here, because this topic is in that section that doesn't exist. :shifty:

I read an article a few years back that talked about the crazy amount of sex slave rings in the cities that host the Super Bowl every year. Made my stomach turn then and it does now. Not saying that he was busted with a sex slave, but just knowing that kind of stuff goes on makes me want to throw up.

That's mostly an urban legend

The Hall of Fame class will be decided on and announced on Saturday.

No more than 5 modern era candidates can go in this year.  Favre is an obvious shoo-in on the first ballot.  I don't think they'll put in 3 QBs at once, so Warner will likely need to wait another year.  Orlando Pace seems like a good bet this year though so The Greatest Show on Turf will get some representation.  T.O.'s antics might have rubbed enough voters the wrong way to not put him in right away, and Marvin Harrison has been waiting a few years anyway and they need to continue to clear up the logjam of WRs waiting to go in.  I'd be surprised to not get at least one defensive player in the class, and Kevin Greene seems to be overdue.  I'm torn between three guys for the last spot - Dungy, Faneca, and Morten Andersen.  Faneca was great but it's so hard to figure out how the voters will view a guard (Larry Allen got in on the first try, Will Shields needed to wait four years).  Andersen appears to have the scoring record on lock down for the forseeable future but it's just never a safe bet to think the committee will put in specialists.  That leaves Dungy.

Eddie DeBartolo Jr. is the lone contributor finalist.  The thought of an executive going into the Hall is always a bit underwhelming but if they're allowed in, Eddie needs to be there having owned the Niners for 5 Super Bowls.  I expect the committee will put him in this weekend.

Ken Stabler and Dick Stanfel are the two senior nominees.  Stabler's always had his fair share of supporters, and now that he is sadly no longer with us I actually think the support will grow even more and he'll go in posthumously.  Stanfel was a guard in the '50s and was on a couple of NFL title winning teams.  I'm not going to pretend to know enough about him to judge one way or the other.

Class of 2016 predictions:  Favre, Pace, Harrison, Greene, Dungy, DeBartolo, Stabler, and maybe Stanfel

Fuck the HoF for not inducting Stabler while he was still alive. Should have been in a long time ago.

Morten Andersen deserves to be in, but kickers do not get the respect they are due. I'd be surprised if he goes in this year, though. I'd put Dungy in before Faneca, but that's just me. All 3 deserve to be enshrined.

I'd say TO is more deserving on account of the whole not being a terrifying slumlord who likely killed at least one person.

But if you want to talk about just on the field accomplishments, okay.  TO is 2nd behind only Jerry Rice in career receiving yards and 3rd behind Rice and Moss in career TDs.  Harrison has over 1000 less recieving yards and 25 less TDs than TO.  So statistically there no way you can argue Harrison belongs in over TO.  Its ridiculous to suggest that the guy who is 2nd in yards and 3rd in TDs shouldn't get in the Hall of Fame.

Just admit that it really boils down to you liking TO less than Marvin Harrison.  Which I presume has something to do with you not really knowing about Marvin Harrison history.

Taking away personalities and off-field antics for both men, T.O. has more career receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns than Harrison...so based on that alone Owens SHOULD go in first.  But the WR logjam is also well documented and I believe they do factor in the waiting list when it comes to making their final selections.  One of the voters even said as much last year, by the time Marvin Harrison's presentation came up, most of the room had already decided on Tim Brown (who certainly deserved it) because while Harrison's numbers were better, Brown had been waiting a lot longer.

We might see a WR go in every year for the next decade.  Harrison, T.O., Moss, Holt, Bruce, Ward.  Then soon enough you'll have guys like Steve Smith and Fitz eligible.  Oh, and Megatron will be on the ballot in 5 years and his name is bound to be floated every year once he's eligible as well.

T.O is the best receiver of the 2000s not named Randy Moss (and if you don't think Moss is a first ballot HOFer, then I don't know what to tell you). Yeah, he was kind of a jackass, but the dude played hard every play and put up numbers. He's a HOFer by any definition of the term.

Stabler belongs in, has belonged in, and should go in. Once he does, I can get on the Jim Plunkett bandwagon.

Any black women in the NFL executive ecosystem are about to get a whole lot of '2 birds with 1 stone' interviews!

Also TO is a first ballot HOF, anybody who says otherwise is silly.

As with black head coaches, the Raiders have already been there...

TO is 2nd in yards, 3rd in touchdowns and 6th in catches all-time. He may be an asshole, but he's a Hall of Famer. The HoF voters can be vindictive, so they make him wait a year or two, like they did with Michael Irvin and Cris Carter.

As for Marvin Harrison, he's 3rd all-time in catches (only behind Jerry Rice and Tony Gonzales), 7th in yards and 5th in touchdowns. He only played in 190 career games, while most of the other top receivers played in at least 215, so he did it in less time on the field, while having to share the ball with Reggie Wayne and Edgerin James.
