Carlos Carvalhal is set to lose his job as Swansea City manager in the wake of relegation, with the club ready to cut him loose after their final Premier League match against Stoke City on Sunday. The 52-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season and there is an option in the club’s favour that would enable them to keep him on, yet the way Swansea imploded in the final two months of the season has convinced the board that the Portuguese is not the right man for the job.

Quelle surprise.

It's not his fault he inherited such an awful squad, but his tactics were still dire. Give Alan Curtis the job.

It's almost as if being objectively shit in the Championship and getting sacked is an indicator that you might struggle to manage in a higher division, who knew?

Carvalhal got Wednesday to the play-offs twice, something they hadn't done at that level in quite a long time. He did a good job there, and I think he did okay at Swansea for the most part. The bad run has come at the worst possible time, but they were in an even worse position when he took over.

I would agree that he hasn’t done a bad job, he inherited a squad that is badly lacking in quality. They have barely any pace out wide, I don’t even think they have any genuine wide players in their squad? Seem to be a squad full of central midfielders. Then up front they decided to pay Bony silly money, when he’s really not very good.

The most apt sentence anyone can possibly find to describe Man Utd this season.

Only for this season?!?!?!
