He is rubbish, but he's certainly not the main reason for the team being naff. Playing their entire game in their own defensive third is moronic, Mignolet coming off his line to add more players to that mess would be amazing.

Mignolet is even worse when he comes off his line. He fluffs - or straight misses - almost every set piece he comes out for, and is poor when he comes off his line any other time too, i.e. late on against Ludogorets.

Maybe I'm not watching Liverpool closely enough, but Mignolet was nowhere near the top of my considerations for why they're sucking.

Grobbelaar is probably just annoyed with Mignolet because he could be making serious amunts of money from bungs instead of playing shit for free.

That being said, I was pretty surprised when Liverpool went for him rather than going for Begoivic or Krul, who could probably have been gotten for around the same price.

I'd imagine its really hard to be confident as a keeper when the ball is constantly within 30 yards of you and you're expected to skin attacking players 3 times per game. It's pressure created entirely by Rodgers' daft tactics.

Mignolet is a bit shit but he's not the issue. The problem is Rodgers' complete inability to organise a team defensively. Persisting with Gerrard as the DM is mental.

I know he has been injured a lot but Emre Can played brilliantly the game prior to Palace. Why he started on the bench is beyond me.

Yeah, the Begovic links were really strong and then Mignolet just came out of nowhere. I don't mind though, I like him and the criticism is way overstated.

Apparently Begovic was our first choice but Stoke wanted a few million more than we were willing to pay, so we went with Mignolet.

It's not just Can that should be starting more, Lucas should be the first name on the teamsheet. He's nowhere near the level he was at before his injury but at the moment he's the only player we've got whose capable of filling the DM position without looking completely out of his depth. He was very good against Real, the fact he hasn't had a look in since is just odd.

Yes. The counterargument is that he doesn't have the legs for it anymore, but if that's true, then super sub him like Lampard.
