Euro 2020(1)

There was some cracking goals in the Denmark game, absolutely made up for them. Been a rollercoaster of a group stage for them emotionally so to secure qualification the way they did tonight would have felt special.

Denmark/Wales should be a good game as well. A very winnable game for either side

Lineker: Jurgen Klinsmann not only said Belgium would break them down, he also said between the 75th and 80th minute.

Rio: Houdini.

Not only a shit pundit, also thick as fuck.

Also, VAR offsides, still shit...

It's a good job Rio was good at football, otherwise he probably would have ended up working in a warehouse and killing himself by accidentally shrinkwrapping himself to a pallet.

All in on Denmark winning now :shifty:

Heres a coincidence if i ever saw one.
In 1992 Euros. Denmark needed to win the last group game to advance
We had Schmeichel in Goal
And we were missing our number 10 (Michael Laudrup)

We then beat France 2-1, and the rest from there is history. Could we do a Shirley Bassey? Likely not. But would be something else

But the same UEFA had no issues with using the pride flag in marketing for the tournament in 2019. Pfff.

The way I interpret this, if the match was against a nation like France or someone else less socially regressive then they could light the stadium up in rainbow colors.

Which is a massive load of toss. But UEFA is nothing if not a tokenistic virtue signalling pit of corruption, like every other organisation.

Also this tweet aged like milk.

I tried to refrain but I just can't. I'm sorry. It's revolting. Here we have a fascist government. This fascist government just a week ago banned any sort of entertainment (movies, books, tv shows) that even mentions any kind of non hetero sexuality. They banned any sort of advertising that portrays homosexuality as part of normality! All of these new laws were chunked together with new and improved strict pedophilia criminal laws because, of course, the two things are somehow connected!

However we have to take their poor feelings into consideration. We can't ignore their poor ultras who worked so hard to create their homophobic chants.

Why side with the oppressed when you can side with the oppressor, am I right UEFA? High five! Seriously, fuck UEFA!

I know this happens everywhere but it's still upsetting.

UEFA are cunts. Always have been and always will be when it comes to dealing with matters like homophobia, racism etc.

Disgusting that they can use equality as a PR tool but when it comes to taking a stand for equality it's nahhhhh.

Which is, in of itself, a political determination that UEFA has made.

Germany should do it anyway and just take the fine - promise to match it with a donation to LGBTQ groups in Hungary.

Oh and here's the kicker: Munich's mayor made this request well before there was any controversy related to Hungary, by delaying making a decision for this long, UEFA has made a rod of its own back.

Genuinely want to see it happen complete with everybody bringing up UEFA's 'equality pledge' whilst doing it. Let them bury themselves on their hypocrisy.

Not allowing this is a political statement by the UEFA just as much as allowing it. Time to stop letting these corrupt fuckheads control the narrative for their own financial gain.

These governing bodies want to have it both ways. They want to promote equality and diversity because most people (probably inside the organization as well as in the general public) support those views. But they also don't want to ruffle any feathers of governments that openly do not support those causes. So they'll go with the classic "pick the option that annoys everyone" approach. Hungary isn't going to be happy because of the potential crackdown on their homophobic chants, while Germany won't be happy because they're being told promoting equality during Pride month is political. Nobody's happy, so UEFA looks like a neutral arbitrator. Even though UEFA is deliberately doing what they're doing for reasons that are rooted in self-interest vs actual neutrality.

Nothing neutral about it though, never has been. One side wants to live their lives in peace, the other wants to in the best scenario oppress/repress them and in the worst case actively exterminate them in various ways.

It's always been like that though, 'false neutrality' for the sake of wanting to be for 'everybody'. It weighs the opinions of people who seek to oppress just as heavily as the oppressed, when it should never be like that.

EDIT1: UEFA (as are every other corporation and governing body) are operating from a position of luxury where they can pick and choose their battles. When people who are stuck with no choice are being patted on the head with platitudes, only to be spat in their face when it becomes inconvenient for those groups to support them.

EDIT2: I hope more and more people realize that these groups, organisations, corporations are not the ones that are going to fight the system on anything, because they ARE the system. They are everything that's going wrong, they are the reason why social change is not forthcoming, because the only dog they have in the fight is how their bottom line is affected, not how the disaffected are affected. They'll never put their foot down on anything because they don't believe in anything, that's not how they work and they've never worked like that.

If tomorrow comitting genocide became politically/socially interesting, then Coca-Cola would be the first company to bring out 'Share industrial grade sterilisation with ____' limited edition bottles. (Not because they truly care about the topic, because they DON'T care about the topic and it's purely a business decision)

Wonder how long it'll be until they're forced into a climbdown.

The UK government has announced it will allow crowds of 75% capacity at Wembley for the Euro 2020 semi-finals and final, under an agreement reached with Uefa. The matches will form part of the government’s Events Research Programme under its coronavirus recovery programme, and fans will be expected to meet Covid entry requirements.
