CEO Christian Purslow said:  “...However, after a good start to last season, this year we have not seen the continuous improvement in results, performances and league position which we have all been looking for. For this reason we have decided to make a change now to allow time for a new head coach to make an impact."

Baffled as to how Rose hasn’t picked up at least one yellow card in this game.

The refereeing was shocking. Auba was terrible today, but Maintained Tiles looked good. Really missed Partey in midfield but I think overall we did OK. Happy to be above United and Spurs.

Completely random aside, but the punditry on VAR is still woeful, and two stuck out to me this weekend.

For Aubameyang's rightly ruled out goal the commentator said something like "not for the first time Arsenal on the wrong end of a VAR offside decision", which is bollocks since the liner flagged it immediately and all VAR did was confirm it was correct.

But worse yesterday was the commentary around Zaha's goal, where they made a big thing of the fact he celebrated, then had to wait, then could celebrate again. Had their been no VAR the goal wouldn't have been given at all...

West Ham fully deserve the win. Just capitalised on the chances they've had. We've been piss poor here.

It's frustrating that Chelsea drop points and we get beat and are now in 4th

Proper gutted about Dean Smith going. Like, it was probably the right decision on balance - the recent performances, more than the results, have been brutal. But, really sad to see him go considering all that he achieved, and considering that he’s also Villa through and through.

With Craig Shakespeare departing too, have to think that they’ve got someone in mind. Can only trust the process now really.

Watching it it was like you were way more concerned with what they were doing, rather than playing your style of play. Your midfield just didn't seem into it at all.

Fabinho and Alison probably had their worse games in a long time which didn't help. We just seemed lethargic and out of ideas. It's weird as we got the result against you lot then played badly against Brighton. Dominated Atletico at home and then played bad today. Can't even use the midweek game excuse as West Ham had a Europa League game.

I thought West Ham defensively were fantastic. Compact in the middle and forcing us out wide...issue we had was it felt we kept trying to go back through the middle and so just kept running into bodies.

They were also strong on their set pieces and it's something I've noticed this season in that Chelsea/Brentford and now West Ham have been able to find something to target when they've had a set poece against us.

My apprehension about West Ham is that they have less to offer off the bench than the top sides, are going to stick around in Europe a bit longer thus fatiguing some of their squad, and there will be January moves from some of the clubs jostling for top 4 that West Ham might not be able to match.
