What do I have to do to get a dashboard like this one? I thought it would just be the default theme since they used it for all the preview images but my default theme has a much darker background.

Change yr theme. It's one of the first ones there.

What's the name of it? The only one I have that's anything like it is 'Xbox 360' but the background is like a dark grey and the selected text on top is white, not black.

Ha, Simpsons Arcade was awesome back in the day.

Not sure it'll be the same on LIVE though, loved the 4 player arcade unit they had at my local arcades

Mine Xbox really has some issues lately with reading the discs, is that a hint that it will break down soon?

It sounds like the laser could be going, so while it shouldn't fully break down, you wouldn't be able to play games.
