FFP is the dumbest thing ever, apparently if you were taken over by a billionaire a decade ago that's fine, but not now. Of course it's still better than the football league's system which seems to be "you can be rich and buy a football club, as long as we like you".

It's all bollocks anyway, as Gary Neville said last night, at the end of the day football clubs are a business and if someone wants to lose a tonne of their personal money in a business then legally there's nothing UEFA or anyone else can do about it. It'll get overturned the moment anyone legally challenges it. The authorities know it too, the FL had the opportunity to go to the CAS after the tribunal overturned their rejection of Cellino but they didn't bother because it'd cost them money and make them look even more stupid.

The only way you could do it properly is American style with wage caps and the like. Problem being that football is played in more than one country, and no league or indeed government is going to want to cap their countries pay only for the best players to go elsewhere for more.

Wage caps would do very little, just look at CM Punk Rugby league, Kevin Sinfield's missus was (is?) paid an extortionate amount for some bullshit job so that they didn't break the salary cap
