The FA Cup Thread 2013/14

I personally don't have a problem with Walcott's gesture, especially as I'm led to believe he only did that after the Spurs supporters started chanting at him. I do feel sorry for the stretcher bearers however, as they apparently got pelted with missiles aimed at Walcott. Also, ITV's panel of experts on the highlights show criticised Walcott for his gesture yet made no mention of how stupid it was for those fans to throw things at a player. Just ridiculous

The idea that Walcott might be charged by the FA for that is ridiculous. With the amount of stick players get, they should be able to give it back. We'd find it hilarious if Ade did something like that if roles were reversed.

Was Adebayor disciplined by the governing body when he ran the full length of the pitch to antagonise Arsenal fans when he scored against them for Man City? Could be the precedent to look to here.

He shouldn't be, but chances are he will. Players aren't allowed to antagonise fans in any way, and it's the reason they're booked for entering the crowd after scoring a goal.

I think something should happen just because if he didn't antagonise the fans then the people stretching him off wouldn't have been pelted with coins which should be the main focus because what did they do to deserve getting coins thrown at their heads

Are you actually saying it's walcotts fault that things were thrown at them and not the idiot spurs fans who actually threw them to begin with? Players shouldn't antagonise fans sure but if a steward got hit with a coin it's the fault of the fucking idiot who threw it.

Adebeyor got £25000 and a suspended two match ban for his "inflammatory actions". Different situations but you could argue that as Walcotts put the stretcher bearers in the firing line is akin to running 90 yards. Seems petty but would be the "right" punishment for it. Of course, neither of them deserve anything because idiots abuse them a bit then throw things at them when a little comes back but there's the precedent.

Still, all in its been a rather nice day in Doncaster.

You're so lucky you drew us in the 3rd Round. Be amazed if you can win through again!

For the first time in a while the game wasn't over inside 10 minutes due to our defence caving in. We've had those days where we've dominated shots and chances (the 4-1 loss at Bristol City for example where we had 20 something shots (10 on target), they had 4 on target all went in) hitting the woodwork and goals disallowed but being shaky at the back causing all the effort to be for nothing.

We probably could do without the cup run at the moment but a big side at home might mean we could keep a few players for our relegation battle with the income, we'd probably make less if we got an away day at an untelevised half empty Arsenal.

I'm not saying it's Walcott fault but surely you must realise that if you are gonna start to try to wind up the opposition fans there are going to be some tits who are gonna do something stupid which oh hey look it did some idiots started throwing coins.

How can ITV possibly make their coverage any worse?

Using talksport commentators - Collymore and Matterface.

I suppose they all sound the same to you, but it isn't Collymore it's Clarke Carlisle .

Which is exactly why he should be charged for it. This isn't a 'players against fans' thing, by inciting the half dozen idiots in the crowd he's put himself, the stewards, and the 99% of Spurs fans not throwing stuff at risk. Those throwing coins should be found and banned, but that doesn't excuse Theo, especially when he kept doing it as his carriers were getting hammered. I'd have dropped him and left him to it...
