Mike Dean hasn't reffed in a Liverpool or Everton game due to being from the Wirral for 10 years so it makes perfect sense for him to now do the Merseyside Derby...

Is it because he cant be trusted not to steal anything while he is there?

This seems to be happening more and more for some reason. Lack of confident, not afraid of make decisions refs coming through is probably the cause.

An 81-year-old footballer - believed to be the UK's oldest - is looking for a new club to sign him up.

Dickie Borthwick, from Weymouth, Dorset, started playing football in 1947 when he was 12.

He had been a member of Wyke Veterans before it folded but admitted he is now "too old" for the Veteran's League.

He told The Mirror he had been invited to join a walking football team but said he wanted to take part in something more fast-paced.

Mr Borthwick, who recovered from prostate cancer three years ago, said he was "still mentally and physically fit" and "can still run around".

Ideally, he said he hoped there was a chance "these guys that are playing walking football can get themselves fit and maybe speed up a bit".

He added he was willing to travel anywhere in Dorset to join a team of people aged over 60.

He said he has scored about 400 goals during his 69 years on the pitch, and has never been booked in any of the 1,600 matches he has played.

Anyone gonna take a punt on him? You cant teach experience.

Well it wouldn't be massively surprising if he continues to be outplayed by Cahill/Luiz/Azpi all season.

I just hope that Zouma returns to the first-team squad at some point and does as well as he was doing pre-injury.

Officers are investigating 106 sex abuse allegations made about 30 London football clubs or teams, the Metropolitan Police have said.

The force said four of the clubs are in the Premier League, two in Championship and three in Leagues One and Two.

There have also been claims against 21 other sides including non-league or non-professional or amateur teams.

It comes as the Scottish Football Association has set up an independent review of child abuse claims.

Several former players have come forward in recent weeks to say they were abused as children by people in positions of authority.
