Disappointed with the decision but I can't say I'm surprised in the slightest. There almost certainly isn't time for any new incoming manager, permanent or temporary, to use the January transfer window, which leaves all hope resting on whoever is brought in to sharpen up the existing squad.

I don't really have an opinion on Tuchel but I think the fact that any noteworthy manager is prepared to take on the poisoned chalice is enough to be satisfied with.

He's English and has Premier League experience, so I would imagine he'll spend the next 20 years getting Premier League jobs he doesn't deserve.
