Jameis Winston has been named the 2015 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year, as voted by the fans, Pepsi and the NFL announced Friday night.

The fans, the NFL and I all felt he was very deserving.

Favre, Orlando Pace, Kevin Greene, Tony Dungy, Stabler, Dick Stanfel and proving you can make it into the hall of fame despite being tied to multiple murders, Marvin Harrison. (who as we determined earlier, statistically has no business getting in before Owens)

Don Coryell got the shaft, again. I wonder how many people are in the Hall of Fame because they shined under the system he created.

The Hall of Fame class will be decided on and announced on Saturday.

No more than 5 modern era candidates can go in this year.  Favre is an obvious shoo-in on the first ballot.  I don't think they'll put in 3 QBs at once, so Warner will likely need to wait another year.  Orlando Pace seems like a good bet this year though so The Greatest Show on Turf will get some representation.  T.O.'s antics might have rubbed enough voters the wrong way to not put him in right away, and Marvin Harrison has been waiting a few years anyway and they need to continue to clear up the logjam of WRs waiting to go in.  I'd be surprised to not get at least one defensive player in the class, and Kevin Greene seems to be overdue.  I'm torn between three guys for the last spot - Dungy, Faneca, and Morten Andersen.  Faneca was great but it's so hard to figure out how the voters will view a guard (Larry Allen got in on the first try, Will Shields needed to wait four years).  Andersen appears to have the scoring record on lock down for the forseeable future but it's just never a safe bet to think the committee will put in specialists.  That leaves Dungy.

Eddie DeBartolo Jr. is the lone contributor finalist.  The thought of an executive going into the Hall is always a bit underwhelming but if they're allowed in, Eddie needs to be there having owned the Niners for 5 Super Bowls.  I expect the committee will put him in this weekend.

Ken Stabler and Dick Stanfel are the two senior nominees.  Stabler's always had his fair share of supporters, and now that he is sadly no longer with us I actually think the support will grow even more and he'll go in posthumously.  Stanfel was a guard in the '50s and was on a couple of NFL title winning teams.  I'm not going to pretend to know enough about him to judge one way or the other.

Class of 2016 predictions:  Favre, Pace, Harrison, Greene, Dungy, DeBartolo, Stabler, and maybe Stanfel

Nailed it.  :D

Some insight into this year's HOF process:  http://espn.go.com/blog/cleveland//post/_/id/845/inside-the-hall-of-fame-voting-room

DeBartolo had the longest debate, with T.O. not too far behind.  Favre's presentation was just his name being said, evidently a tradition from when the 100% no doubt first ballot guys in recent years have gone in (Marino, Aikman, Rice, Emmitt, etc.) where there is no need to waste time discussing it.

Modern era finalists are also grouped together by position and discussed one after another and subsequently compared, which is part of the reason why you seldom see players from the same position going in with the same class.

Starting two-time Super Bowl winning QB, DMN. I mean, There's guys like Earl Morrall, who at least started one, then there's Jason Garrett, who uh, probably won't be credited with the Cowboy's success as much as Aikman :shifty: .

So Marrison made it over T.O....which people have pointed out, is BS and solely related to his ego

I hate Super Bowl parties. Over here it's full of drunk wannabe Americans or else people who have no clue what's going on and distract you.

I want to watch the game and it's hard to concentrate in that environment!

I'll be at work, trying to watch as much of the game as possible in the hopes that the Denver Broncos are lost in some sort of alien abduction incident in which they are all transported to some sort of paradise and never come back, thus ridding us of the scourge that is the Denver Broncos in the nicest way possible.
