Local sports radio was talking about it, because its a big deal with Texans and they were speculating Kingsbury could join him as an offensive coordinator

Mack Brown, Kliff Kingsbury, and Gene Chizik together on the same team? Wild stuff.

Going for Mack Brown is weird because it basically concedes that your program's goal is to win 7 a year, make a bowl, and repeat the following year. I know he's like the greatest football coach in Tar Heels history, but maybe let it stay that way?

It reeks of the Bengals potentially going with Hue Jackson or when the Rams hired Jeff Fisher. Or Kansas hiring Les Miles. Old man in charge thinks looking backward is the way to go forward.

The head coach of Appalachian State, right there in North Carolina, Scott Satterfield, is from North Carolina, and has had three straight 9-win seasons at a school that wasn't even in the FCS level until 2014. But no, go for the 67-year old who hasn't coached in five years. I'm sure he'll bring something new the table...

Herm's only had one season. And 7-5 is average. The only reason it's thought of as good is because we all expected him to completely shit the bed. 😛 I'll be curious to see once he loses one of the best receivers in the country and recruits his own players into the program.

Maybe the Mack Brown hiring will succeed and I'll eat crow. But if I were a UNC fan or alum, I'd be livid. He, like you suggested, seems more like a placeholder instead of someone to take the program forward. And in a time where there's literally one championship caliber team in the ACC, I'd be jumping through hoops to find that coach that could make us the second.

I don't see Mack Brown lasting more than two years. Not even, if a really hot commodity coach becomes available or the team has a losing record his first year.

Speaking of old coaches, I wish Bobby Petrino's career as a head coach would end. He should be an OC for life.

He might be done. I don't think there's a lot of people lining up to hire him.

Don't forget that UNC's athletic department has gone through a lot of shit in the last few years, and continue to do so, so they aren't really in position to do the things you really need to do to compete at that level.

I like it as a stabilizing move, it will really depend on who the OC is and if there's a HCIW, and who that is.

I like the Pittsburgh bet. They're still getting blown out but probably only by 4 TDs.

I went out with my fiance and her friend last night for drinks and some food and I was pretty hype to watch the MAC Championship (it's the Big 12 but colder!) and they went and turned the TVs over to the Pac-12 snoozefest.
