It wouldn't be so bad if they actually added some new stuff at the same time that wasn't ESPN. Stuff like Netflix and ESPN is only applicable if you're American and in the case of NF, you already subscribe. Stuff like Facebook, Twitter, Last.FM isn't much of an addition. Last.FM would be if you use it during gameplay.

As it is, stuff like 1 vs 100 has been taken away and with no mention of new stuff coming. They said they took Halo 2 et al offline so they can evolve the service, again, nothing new. Although that would probably only end up being unlimited friends or something.

You have to wonder if it's just a cash grab since it's happening in November and that's when we get new CoD and also, at least in their eyes, an influx of family/casual players with the Kinect.

And to be fair, if anyone is paying the RRP for Live then they need to be more like Zoidberg and be a savvy consumer. Like I said earlier, I use resellers and i'm sure that America/Canada has ventures. Plus there's the sales that periodically get mentioned on blogs like Joystiq about year long subs being sold for like 30/40$.
