Presumably Joel Matip was brought on up front for his ability to play in tight areas, because Jurgen Klopp would never encourage long balls that "end football"?

Doesn't count as ending football unless it's being played towards that "fucking tree Fellaini". Who, btw, gets a start today. Presumably just to mark Crouch at set pieces.

At some point Mourinho needs to criticise finishing as opposed to saying the keeper is having a worldy. It was so bad again today.

I'm sure he does behind closed doors - I don't want him coming out in the media and trashing people for missing chances though.

Oh yeah, I'm not saying to come out and publicly hammer our players for poor finishing, but it really has been awful this season. I was at the home Stoke game and it was terrible there, mixed with Grant having a good game. The early Ibra 1 on 1 was just shit. Today, we were missing chances from a yard or two. Mata blazing over, and Rooney headed it over from shockingly close range too. I'm really happy that we're creating this many chances, but not putting them away is hurting us. It's rarely the keeper having a blinder. The Burnley game, for example, saw Heaton make 2 decent saves. The rest were a result of poor finishing.

Pogba is frustrating as well. He can hammer them from 40 yards and almost break the bar, yet put him on the edge of the box and he'll trickle a shot into the keepers arms.

If City's grand purpose is to develop the "dominate at home and lose to a suckerpunch goal" trope into an art form, then I'd say this first half has been a magnificent success for them.

They've fucked it up in the second half though! 1-0 to City. :shifty:

Holy shit, Lloris cock-up! 2-0!
