Speaking of which...

Other news bits from today, in no particular order:

  • Russell Wilson was to count $37M in 2022. Seahawks save $11M in 2022 and take on on $26M in dead money. That's the second-most dead money a team has ever incurred. The Eagles ate $33.8M in the Carson Wentz trade.
  • Broncos are releasing WR DaeSean Hamilton. Hamilton is said to be fully recovered from the torn ACL he suffered last off-season. Hamilton was set to be traded to SF before his injury in 2021 and the former fourth-round pick is expected to draw interest.
  • The Bills have released LB A.J. Klein, who had a $5.6M cap number this year.
  • The Titans won’t be tagging OLB Harold Landry. Tennessee still hopes to re-sign Landry to a long-term deal. But if nothing is done by Monday, the 25-year-old pass rusher will head into the negotiation window as a free agent.
  • Tampa are tagging WR Chris Godwin. They were unable to work out a long-term deal, but will keep trying.
  • Green Bay have now officially franchise tagged WR Davante Adams.
  • 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo underwent shoulder surgery today. All went as expected - successful surgery. The plan and hope is Garoppolo is throwing well ahead of training camp.
  • The Jaguars have placed the franchise tag on LT Cam Robinson again.
  • The Chargers and WR Mike Williams reached agreement on a three-year, $60 million deal that includes $40 million guaranteed and $28 million in year one.
  • The Cowboys announced they have restructured the contracts of QB Dak Prescott and G Zack Martin to gain $22M of salary cap space. That helps fit in the Dalton Schultz franchise tag.
  • Josh Reynolds has signed a two year extension with the Detroit Lions.
  • Orlando Brown is deciding whether to represent himself or hire an agent. He won't sign the franchise tag in Kansas until that gets sorted out.

AKA Russell Wilson stole my thunder so we're delaying the announcement to make sure everyone is talking about me and only me.

His return game in Philly will be incredible. He might feign an injury like he's Ben Simmons to get out of that game.

It's going to happen. It's Philly sports. Even in MLS, we traded away our former record signing Jamiro Monteiro to San Jose before the season started, after he tried to force a move last summer. Miro got sent off this weekend and is now suspended for his return to Philly

The Colts accumulated enough in this trade to likely slide back into the last of round 1 if they choose to take a QB. But, man, what a massive risk. Wentz isn't that good but he's much better than the bottom of the barrel they'll likely be trotting out otherwise.

Is there a good QB class in the 23 Draft? Maybe they are eyeing a rebuild?
