I slightly dread this happening. Obviously crests change over time, but Newcastle went from one of those wacky simple 80s designs (see also Leeds) to what we have now and it's far too complex for modern tastes but lovely and reasonably unique these days. I wonder if we'll end up with a simplified version of the 70s round one eventually.

I'd have preferred the shield crest but if Aston Villa fans want a crest that harkens back to the one they had when they won the European Cup, more power to them.
