Sounds like the season opener will be the Chiefs hosting the Lions on Thursday Night Football.

A weird choice given how many marquee opponents are on the Chiefs’ home slate.  But cool for the Lions getting that spot.

I like how the NFL has this really dumb schedule reveal special tonight and yet by the time it airs, almost every team's schedule will have already leaked.  The full Packers scheduled leaked in one go.  I've been able to piece together nearly the entire Giants schedule because License Plate Guy (a diehard who goes to every game road and away and helps plan fan trips) has already started planning his group travel for the road games and numerous team travel agencies have already told him when the Giants will be in town.

Giants/Cowboys will be the SNF opener for the first time since 2017...had to know the NFL was just waiting for the Giants to have a pulse again before they went back to slapping that one into what was becoming a near-annual week 1 slot.

In fact the Giants will have 3 night games in the first 4 weeks of the season, which is probably the worst part of the team being relevant again.  Man I hate night games.

The NFL is releasing a documentary chronicling draft weekend, the rights to which have been secured by the Roku Channel. The doc, which has not yet been titled or given a release date, covers the league’s teams as they decide who they will select in the 2023 NFL draft, which took place last month in Kansas City.

“Viewers will get an exclusive, all-access look into the high-stakes operations of four NFL teams and the League’s 2023 draft headquarters in Kansas City during one of the most significant professional sports moments of the year,” Roku said in a release announcing the documentary.

The four teams set to be featured are the Carolina Panthers, who selected Bryce Young with the first pick of the draft; the Indianapolis Colts, who chose quarterback Anthony Richardson with the fourth pick of the first round; the Dallas Cowboys, who selected running back Deuce Vaughn in the 6th round, and the Jacksonville Jaguars, who made several trades during the weekend.

Roku Originals partnered with Skydance Sports and NFL Sports to produce the doc, which will air sometime before the the start of the 2023 NFL season. NFL Sports also produced “Hard Knocks,” the long-running HBO documentary series that follows an NFL team throughout its training camp prior to the start of the season. Much like “Hard Knocks,” Roku says it plans for the draft documentary to be an annual event.

“It’s an honor to partner with NFL Films and Skydance Sports to give our streamers first-time, unprecedented access to the excitement, anticipation, and emotion of the NFL Draft,” Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Originals at Roku Media, said in the release. “As we expand our original sports content offering, Roku Originals remains committed to sharing authentic stories, from world-class partners, only on The Roku Channel.”

Roku says it is also adding the NFL channel to its Live TV guide.

“The around the clock channel provides hundreds of hours of curated, official programming from NFL Films and NFL Media, including classic game replays, documentaries, and originals,” the release said.

I can't envision them having the Thank You Tom game not in primetime but I guess NE won't have many of those, so home opener against the Eagles it is.

Dolphins host Cowboys basically every 8 years. I went to my last Cowboys game 8 years ago. This year I get another chance and of course it's on Christmas Eve which is basically Latino Christmas.

I'm enjoying laughing at some posts and comments on Facebook:

Justin Fields is the best QB in the NFC North, and will be in the running for league MVP.

Anthony Richardson will be a HOFer and automatically makes the Colts contenders.

Jordan Love will be a better QB than AR.

So much ridiculousness I'm waiting for Rob Dyrdek to make an appearance.

Matt Ryan has joined CBS as an analyst.

He's not officially retired and it doesn't sound like he'll file his papers yet, but after last year it's tough to imagine a team giving him a call unless their QB room gets dismantled to injury.
