Because he suffered the injury away from the team facility (on advice of the NFLPA who are imploring all non-rookies to skip workouts) and was therefore put on the non-football injury list, many of his guarantees are now voided and it sets up a very ugly labor battle.

HOUSTON -- A member of the team representing the women suing Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson recently reached out to Watson's legal team to discuss the case, according to text messages and a recording reviewed by ESPN.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, Watson's attorney, Rusty Hardin, suggested Tony Buzbee, the attorney for the 22 women who have filed civil lawsuits against Watson, has attempted to settle the case on several occasions.

Buzbee denied the claim early Friday morning in an Instagram post.

"Contrary to what Mr. Rusty says, we haven't approached them to settle, ever," he wrote.

The text messages and recording reviewed by ESPN show a member of Buzbee's team approaching Watson's legal team to discuss "working things out" between Watson and the women who have filed the lawsuits.

Buzbee did not respond to ESPN's emails requesting comment Friday.

Watson, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, has not been interviewed by the NFL, despite the fact that Buzbee told a Houston television station that four of his clients have met with the league.

In the interview with Fox 26, Buzbee expressed concern over how the NFL is handling its investigation into the lawsuits filed against Watson, saying that "some of the women did not feel like they were being respected during the interview process."

Buzbee told the television station that four of his clients met with the league's lead investigator, Lisa Friel, and that he has "probably four more women who want to meet with the NFL" but is not sure whether he is going to let them speak with the league's investigators.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants have signed former Carolina Panthers first-round pick Kelvin Benjamin, the team announced Sunday.

Benjamin and former Philadelphia Eagles running back and Super Bowl hero Corey Clement impressed over the weekend during tryouts at rookie minicamp and received one-year deals.

A wide receiver who had more than 1,000 yards as a rookie for the Panthers in 2013, Benjamin has not played in the NFL since 2018. He worked primarily as a tight end at the tryout.

"In terms of Benjamin working a different position [Friday], we're going to work different guys at a variety of things right now," Giants coach Joe Judge said. "He's a big guy. He's always been a big receiver. He'll work receiver. He's working a little bit flex tight end as well.

"I wouldn't really kind of, you know, pin him down to any one position at this point. We're going to use the weekend to move him around to different spots and see how it works out."

Benjamin would join a crowded tight end room along with Evan Engram, Kyle Rudolph, Kaden Smith and Levine Toilolo. The Giants also are deep at wide receiver after adding Kenny Golladay and John Ross in free agency and drafting Kadarius Toney in the first round. This will make it tough for Benjamin to ultimately land a spot on the final roster, regardless of position.

It was just three years ago during a Monday Night Football broadcast that ESPN analyst Booger McFarland famously declared Benjamin was "probably a Popeyes biscuit away from being a tight end."

Benjamin, 30, has spent time with the Panthers, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. He has 209 career receptions for 3,021 yards and 20 touchdowns. The 28th overall pick in 2014 was drafted in Carolina by current Giants general manager Dave Gettleman.

Clement, 26, spent the first four seasons of his professional career with the Eagles. He has been slowed in recent years by injury but is best known for his performance in Super Bowl LII, when he had 100 receiving yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' upset win over the New England Patriots. Clement also helped execute the Philly Special, a trick play that resulted in a touchdown reception by quarterback Nick Foles.

The Giants needed veteran depth at running back. With Saquon Barkley coming back from a serious knee injury, the Giants signed Devontae Booker as a free agent and drafted Gary Brightwell in the sixth round.

New York also announced that it had waived running back Jordan Chunn and tight end Nate Wieting.

Eh, why not?  The Giants figured to keep four tight ends on their roster anyway so it doesn't hurt.  If the projected 4th string guy (Levine Toilolo) gets beaten out of a job by a 30-year old playing out of position that says more about Toilolo than it does Benjamin.

The fact Jones can run fairly well means the Giants should absolutely stock up on bodies at TE, allowing them to rest Engram on plays while still having 2 TEs out there. Will keep defenses a bit more on their toes even if Benjamin isn't very good since they'll still need to take a LB to cover him which may open up some field for Jones to run for it if one of the WRs can't get open in time.

Cowboys chose to do their rookie photos like mugshots, I assume in order to save time for the police later on.
