It's pretty low risk for him anyway. You won't find a better job situation talent-wise, and if they do leave, the college ranks will always be there to take you back.

How does David Griffin not get Executive of the Year? Granted, the Warriors GM built a winner longer and signed Kerr, and LeBron + the number one pick luck obviously helped Griffin, but the guy made some brilliant trades to get the Cavs on track this year.

Because last year the Cavs were shit. And yes, he talked LeBron into coming back, and that ripple effected and made the Cavs good this year. But Myers got it based on his two - three years of build to making the Warriors into a 67 win team. Also, Griffin traded whatever it took to get Love. Myers refused to trade Klay Thompson to get him. And look how good Klay was this year. Myers deserved it by a mile.

Also, Dunleavy won't be getting suspended. Despite flagrantly punching MCW in the jaw. Bravo.

It's Executive of the Year, though, not Executive of the Past 3 Years. By that qualification LeBron should never not be the MVP and Popavich should always be the coach of the year. I'm not saying Myers isn't the better executive but grading by the year it's been Griffin, especially with the mid-season moves to get Mozgov/J.R./Shumpert that have helped that team tremendously.

Except his work for the last three years bore fruit this year and resulted in the best record of the year.

He made the Love trade which wasnt a great one and the team still sucked until mid season. He had the best player in the league gifted to him and turned it into a two seed in the East. The fact that it looked like they would be worse than that for the first half of the season doesn't help his case.

Because he didn't make the signing that made the biggest change, LeBron decided he was going to the Cavs if they met his demands which included getting Love. I don't know if you then reward someone for patching up the lack of depth this caused. It was impressive but so was Stan Van Gundy having the balls to dump Josh Smith and being proved to have done the right thing when they went on a brief tear. Hell so were the Rockets for then taking a punt on Smith even though he has been a cancer on a couple of teams now and actually getting him to play well given he could have fucked the locker-room (he and Dwight are tight so just waiving him might have also caused issues). So are the Celtics who somehow manage to win every fucking trade and have become a play-off team whilst still in the middle of a rebuild with a ton of cap flexibility and some juicy picks incoming. Pat Riley was only the co-winner in 2010-2011 and he nabbed LeBron and Bosh in the same off-season.

I'm personally really glad GSW took it out. GSW haven't been trading players or making massive signings for a few years. Instead they have organically grown a team. It's nice to see that you can do it that way and still win in the league (and actually be rewarded for it). They had the best record and the only major difference (which made all the difference) was getting rid of their shitty, arsehole coach for a competent one. Sometimes it's the moves you don't make that show how smart you are.
