Just looking at their roster again, Buffalo are ridiculously stacked on offence this year.

If they had a QB, they could be a legitmate Super Bowl contender, Rex Ryan just must not be allowed to have one. I know who I want on Hard Knocks this year at least!

Cassel is a decent game manager. With Shady in the backfield, opponents must respect the run. With some decent line play, you've got to think he's capable of putting some drives together.

I'd love for this to happen.

I'm not buying them as a legit contender, QB or not, this year. 'Super Teams' built out of free agency rarely work in the NFL, if ever. If they can hold it together for a year, then I could see them making a legitimate run next year, though. They still need to work on their offensive line, as well.

Mike Kafka is just a pseudonym Brett Favre is using to get back in the NFL all incognito like.

Brett picked the name after playing too much Final Fantasy.

The greatest Eagle died this morning. RIP Chuck Bednarik

RIP Concrete Charlie. I'm, obviously, not an Eagles fan, but any man who played both ways in the days of the NFL where it was as violent as it was then deserves respect.

Is there anyone left from the Eagles last championship? I know Bednarik was the most well-known from the 1960 team, right?

A question about LA based teams -if the market is so good there, how did they:

1 - Lose their teams in the first place?

2 - Remained teamless for two decades?

A couple factors for why the Raiders and Rams both left. Especially the Rams. At least with the Raiders we can say "Al Davis" and it makes sense (sorry DMN). But the big reason they've been teamless for so long is the difficulty in building a stadium without a guaranteed team and plan in place. Taxpayers have to fork over so much to build these things with very little if any return so there's always a fight and it's a lot harder unless a team already has a plan in place to come to town.

Plus it's been a great tool by the league owners to hang over cities' heads like Minneapolis-St. Paul to coax city officials into approving huge amounts of money spent on a new stadium that they'll see very little return on.

Assuming he is still as good as last year, Sam getting a try at the 49ers wouldn't be awful, in my view.

If he's only as "good" as he was last year that's a problem for him. Plus, apparently he ran the 40-yard dash in concrete block shoes at the veterans combine.

But a few news notes...

Darren Sharper has copped a "global" plea for his gaggle of rape cases across the country and will spend 9 years in federal prison.

Also, the NFL has voted to suspend the blackout rule for the 2015 season.
