I'm excited and kind of worried at the same time. Not about Thibs' coaching, I think that's going to be great and he'll do a great job, am also hoping with keep SMitch as an assistant, he did well developing our guys, his issue was making adjustments and with rotations. Quite a few of our players seemed to really love him.

My concern is more with Layden, he really fucked up in New York chasing instant gratification. We have decisions to be made with 'Bazz and Dieng. I'm really hoping they don't decide to package them for a mediocre player in his prime or come in making wholesale changes, especially when LaVine and KAT both really love Dieng. On the other hand a lot of players tweeted congratulating Thibs so hopefully he can get us some vets that aren't 90 to pad out the bench. Basically we need some bench guys, but if they start packaging young guys aiming for a win now roster I'm gonna be pissed.

I don't really buy the minutes bullshit and Thibs running them into the ground. What's vital to me is keeping Arnie Kander instead. To me it's all about the medical team. You need guys who understand basketball and know when to force guys to sit and when they can come back and the experience to know hints and tips that work for basketball players. Thibs leaving Chicago certainly doesn't seem to have done their injury rate any favours. Likewise we were ravaged by injuries last season compared to this one and no drastic changes were made besides Kander coming in.

It might be a challenge for Thibs to come up with a great offence that suits our team. We have two of the most athletic wings in the league, a stretch 5 and a pass first point guard that has a long set up time to shoot, has no floater game and an injury history that makes me worried every time he leaps in traffic.

But he should be able to get Wiggins, LaVine and Shabazz to play good D. LaVine and Shabazz have already shown a passion for D, they just don't know how to do it. LaVine quits when he hits a screen, Shabazz is like a whirling dervish and super high energy on D, he just doesn't know how to play within the game. Wiggins goes to fucking sleep though and I can see him spending stretches on the bench if he keeps looking disinterested on D.

The biggest plus for me is that Thibs seems to fucking love Rubio. He gave an interview right after signing and offered his take on some of our players, the player he was most complimentary of was Rubio and basically called him a perfect PG since he knows where players are best from and when and how to get them the ball to be most effective. So hopefully for the first time since he came over I won't be spending an off-season or all-star break reading rumours about us shopping him.

I mean compared to Mark Jackson (I would have needed to switch teams after his shit about gays), Brooks, Hornacek etc. to me Thibs was easily the best option and a massive step above. The only other candidate that made me excited was JVG.

Arnie Kander spent a number of years in Detroit, he's a fucking wizard. I wish we had kept him around, he was here for all of our championships.

Hawks/Celtics series is everything I love about basketball.

It's definitely been THE series to watch first round. It's shaving years off of my life because the Celtics are just humanly incapable of holding a damned lead, but God this has been great basketball.

Funny you mention that, because we're good at that, too!

I love to watch Isaiah Thomas play basketball. This is a guy whom the Kings said wasn't tall/good enough to be their starting point guard, the Suns said he wasn't better than Knight/Bledsoe (both great guards in their own right) and traded to the Celts for next to nothing. Nobody expected him to be a good enough player with his 5ft9 size being a deal-killer and the thing that would hold him back from being anything other than a sub-par starting guard...

Now he's a one-time All-Star in his first year with the Celts, a 22/6 guard that can get to the stripe at will. And he's averaging a 'mere' 28 points per game in the playoffs (which makes him the best scorer ahead of KD/RW/JH/etc. and being one of the main reasons the Celts are even in the running to beat the Hawks in six.

Isaiah Thomas is a bad bad man, and you could argue he has the best contract in the NBA at 7M (and dropping!) per year... Once the Celts young core stars developing, I am truly afraid of what they are able to do.

It helps that the inept Billy King gave them the Nets pick (projected 3rd overall) this year in that KG/Pierce deal too. Scary to see what they become next year with some playoff experience under their belts, a top of the line PG and a top rookie.

I don't know who I want to win the Hornets/Heat series. On one hand the Hornets are playing so hard and I love Lin and Marvin Williams, on the other hand I think the Heat could challenge the Cavs and I'm not sure the Hornets can (Love would be a handful even if Williams can guard LeBron and Kemba guards Irving).

I'm loving the East matchups this year. The West has been so boring in comparison, business should pick up in the 2nd round though.

Yeah, the first round in the West is usually pretty straightforward, unless we get a crazy match up like Spurs / Clippers last year. It's just weird that the four best teams in the league are in the West, but it makes it fun in the second round. I really can't wait for that.

Mavericks are out... So time to jump onto the Hornets/Celtics bandwagon!

Unless you're a Nets fan then you want them both out as a soon as possible. Celtics for having our pick and the Hornets for having our future PG. >_>

So assuming the Blazers go through instead of the Clippers now that probably gives the Warriors that extra game in hand they'll need for when Curry comes back. Initially I was thinking they'd be down 3-0 to LA but now potential 2-1 or 1-1 when he comes back, assuming everything goes well for his recovery.
