Even then, they had the deal in place, and Stern not stepped in, it would have happened. And that's a perfect example of the kind of deals the Lakers often end up with. Lakers get Paul, Hornets would have ended up with Kevin Martin, Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, Goran Dragic and a 2012 first rounder (which became Royce White.) Totally a fair deal!

I'm not going to get into whether the trade was fair or not, but it's still bullshit that Stern vetoed it. Not sure it really mattered, because Dwight Howard isn't the type of person who can be the man on a team like the Lakers, so it would have ended horribly anyway, but still.

The whole Cousins situation is weird, every head coach but Malone has evidently had problems with him. He's young, worth noting that some guys do grow up after a few years, but it's like "the talent's there, but are the attitude and maturity?"

Maybe, Zach Randolph seemed to finally sort himself out. But is it worth trading assets for that chance? He may always be a knuckle head.

Hoping the Pistons dont get too cute and just go BPA. Likely Booker or Johnson.

If the Hornets had ended up with Gasol, it would have been a far more even trade, but they didn't even get that. They were going to give up the best player in the deal and get all the throwaway pieces from the two other teams.

Plus it worked out for Houston since they were able to get James Harden the following season. And then NO wound up getting nothing for Chris Paul anyway and were bad enough to win the lottery to draft Anthony Davis.

Even then it was a better trade, the problem was that NO wasn't getting anything big to replace the best player in franchise history. It likely all came down to the NBA owning the then-Hornets and probably wanting to get max value for the team, selling Paul for pennies on the dollar wasn't the way to do that. Getting a potential star in Eric Gordon and then giving them the first overall pick seeing what they could get in the lottery was the way to do that.

Also Monta Ellis has opted out of his contract with Dallas. Goran Dragic has as well.

I eat before I go, buy tickets on stubhub, or get them from a friend with season tickets, then take the train. Baller on a budget, yo.

Also Kevin Love opted out.

Portland trading Batum to Charlotte for Vonleh and Gerald Henderson. Supposedly has nothing to do with Aldridge.

David West not taking his player option, turning down a $12.6 million pay day for next season.
