Holy crap, the Lions not only beat the Pats but they did so in decisive fashion.

I'd say this means next to nothing for the Pats though.  They've looked bad in September, like, five years in a row.

This season just feels different though.  It feels like there's much more drama than usual, a lack of talent on both sides of the ball, lack of focus and discipline.  A loss on Sunday basically eliminates them from winning the division barring a Dolphins collapse.

I blame his offensive line, Steelers are getting to him on every play, often times within a second or two of the snap.  Might as well not be there at all.

Not that it decided the game (this time), but Clay Matthews got called for a perfectly clean sack. No helmet contact or anything. I understand player protection and QBs are valuable but they honestly need to just put red jerseys on if this is the alternative.

I don't know if this was meant to be commentary on it being a shit rule or not, but this was an inexcusable flag for Matthews to take. That is a fucking TEXTBOOK example of that rule. He KNOWS it's a rule, he's already been called for it. He had a relative ETERNITY to decide how to take down Smith - I guarantee you that nobody at that stadium has had shits go through in the last MONTH as clean as he got through that pocket - and he decided to plow right through the middle and land on him.

Now, it IS a shit fucking rule and I hope to god they change it somehow. But you just *gotta* do better than that when you're through and in on the QB as cleanly as he was. There's no excuse for this flag that isn't a variant of "this shouldn't be a rule" and he doesn't get a pass on that because I hate the rule, they're separate issues.

They seriously should just make it touch football rules as far as the QB is concerned, unless he's actually rushing with the ball or pulling a trick play. Then he's fair game for tackling.

Maybe even add a rule that if the QB is touched but refuses to acknowledge it and stop the play, then the play is negated with a loss of down and a five yard penalty tacked on.

Has a flag ever been called on the kicking team on a punt or kickoff once in the history of football?  Because it sure doesn't feel like it.

Yes?  If the ball goes out of bounds before crossing the goal line for a touchback on a kickoff, its a penalty and the ball is placed at, I think the 40 yard line.

And in 2016 the Browns (of course) got flagged for a false start when the kicker, Cody Parkey, ran up for the kick before the ball was snapped
