NFL 2022

I'm not going to say he didn't have a concussion on Sunday because the NFL has proven to be pretty dumb about things, especially concussions but it would be wildly stupid to allow him to play without making sure every possible step was cleared so as to avoid even further litigation about their handling of these things. But maybe this just highlights that the system still needs to be better.

The problem is, the stuff that happened on Sunday and again tonight are also consistent with a spinal injury so it's possible he's just been misdiagnosed the entire time.

Sadly, this tweet from Ryan Shazier may offer the best hope that things are figured out because UC may be able to diagnose it better than whoever the Dolphins and the NFL have on their payrolls.

Everyone involved with the decision to play Tua needs to be fired and blackballed, and Tua shouldn't be anywhere near the field for the rest of the season minimum. Utter neglect.

Teams have basically put all the responsibility on those specialists since 1) Players are almost always going to say they're fine, and 2) Coaches admittedly have a lot to think about all times already. So when one fucks up as bad as we've seen them fuck up it calls into question the entire program.

Still not sure why they had him flying with the team after the game when he went to a hospital, you'd think someone at the hospital would've stepped in about that.

I feel like this is a bit of an overreaction. I get why, if you can't trust the medical specialists who can you trust? But the instability is going to get mistaken to include anything ranging from dehydration to neck/back injuries (which are sometimes severe but also aren't concussions).

Bigger issue for the league is why Tua was medically cleared for Thursday and less why he was let back out there on Sunday after "passing" his concussion test. Was their team physician just taking what the neurotrauma consultant was saying as gospel? Seems likely. If others are doing it, that's just going to let something like this happen again.

If we lose at home to the Jets we really need to give up on the season, even if it costs Tomlin his perfect run of wining seasons. We also need to give up on Trubisky, preferably two weeks ago if possible.

You might well be getting your wish!
